Sounds all very accurate for Wolhford. The lack of shore access makes it very frustrating to fish. Rattle snakes all over the place as well.
Float tubing would be a game changer on that lake, maybe one day.

Re: Help deciding please...
Between the buoys and the dam has been closed to fishing for decades at El Cap. Probably no city workers to enforce it.
Any City lake in San Diego that has buoys between them and the dam means that area is closed.

Re: 7/6- Miramar
I dont see many posts about Lake Skinner.
But, it's a very good fishery, whith many different species to target.
It's launch ramp is open for private boaters & also has good shore access for bank fishing.
It's a longer drive from SD, but it's a good option for boaters.
Camping is also available at ...

Topwater 7/9
Got on a really nice top water bite early this morning. The bass were going ape5hit. Got 4 walking a Megabass Dogx jr. After that slowed I went to the bottom with craw baits and picked up a handful more.
Another wonderful morning on the water.

Lake Skinner
Due to the low water levels at some of our local San Diego lakes, I decided to fish Lake Skinner (aka baby Clear Lake) on some of the 411 I received earlier in the week. The fishing was phenomenal, with over 35 fish caught using a variety of techniques, including flipping, drop shot, topwater, and ...

Re: Help deciding please...
Well, thanks all for the "advice"! Just spent an hour scouring regulations to find where it says you cannot fish from shore beyond a line of buoys in the water...any help?
Don't take this wrong...but the buoys basically tell you that beyond them it is a restricted area and the furthest you ...

It's been a while back at cap
I have not done much since May other than my trip to Powell. I decided to change my ride. Wasn't sure to what. I have been float tubing for over 45 years and never had a concern, until now. I had a leak at barrett and all was fine. I kept thinking what if I need to swim and tow my sinking tube. I'm ...

Re: It's been a while back at cap
Nice new rig.
I believe any water craft with a motor, even an electric motor, must be registered in CA.
Might check on that before you get a citation.
Even my one kayak that has an electric motor had to be registered.
I remember a few years ago a guy at Miramar had a electric motor on his kayak ...

This week
Here are a few pictures from this week at the Murr.
I have to admit that it's been pretty tough. I got a few on top, but the bite window was very short. I picked up a few on jigs, but they were scattered all around the lake, and I really had to work for them. I got the isolated crank and jerkbait ...

Back to BFS 7/24
I had high hopes for this Eurotackle micro crankbait, and I have to say; it did not disappoint. The thing is a dink and clone magnet. I lost count of the bass at 11, but the total had to be in the neighborhood of 20 or so, with the best going slightly over 3 pounds. It also accounted for a handful ...

Back to Vail lake and a PB!
Headed out for the short trip north (for me from east Oside) to Vail lake. Got there first, love to see a clear bank. Was just getting light and walked the bank with 6 whopper plopper blowups and 2 fish...nothing special but...topwater. I walked farther than I ever had down the near shore and ...

Re: Back to Vail lake and a PB!
I've done many laps around that lake with an Eboat over the last 8 years and shocked several thousand bass and not gotten one over 7 lbs. You got yourself a unicorn. Congratulations!

Re: 8/4-Pressured Murray
We bay fishermen are lucky the city hasn't figured out how to ruin the bay fishing. Although closing the restrooms at Mission Bay is a start.

Re: 8/4-Pressured Murray
I think we are all praying that this El Nino actually pans out and helps get the rest of the lakes back online. With the track record of predicted rain in the past, calling for major storms only to get a slight drizzle, I'll believe in the El Nino when I actually see significant rain. If it doesn't ...

Re: 8/4-Pressured Murray
Well the rain dance was successful 2022 and 2023. All I saw was a bunch of water being released down river right into the ocean. "Due to the Dam's structural integrate".... Sure. If it rains like everyone wants or expects it to, they will just let it go down the river once the dams meet their "maxim ...
