Re: Re: miramar

My buddy fishes Miramar a lot and he told me the water level is above the end of the boat ramp but not enough
to launch a boat as of yesterday. Kayaks and float tubes should not have a problem. Lake staff says by next week water level
should be back to normal.

Re: Time to call it quits.

Hi Larry,
I'm so sorry you've had to call it quits, but am glad to see all those memories shared and the friends you've made along the way. I no longer have a boat to try, and don't want to pry, but could you still get on the water with others help? At my old fishing club in Boston, we used to take ...

Enhancing blurry photos with ChatGPT

I've always been disappointed with the photo of my biggest Large Mouth.

Tried the enhance photo function on ChatGPT.

Before & after attached.

It certainly sharpened the image; but....it shrank my fish.

Spoken as a typical fisherman. It was thiiisss big.

Re: 9/14- Miramar Launch ramp closed

Talked to my buddy shortly after I left and he said you can still launch kayaks and tubes.

Re: Hodges or whats left of it!

What a sad sight too see. I learned how to fish as a kid for crappie under the 15 freeway. The city/county has known about the dam problems for decades at this point. For now the lake is just a monument to our neglect.

Has anyone been up to Olivenhain recently?

Re: Hodges or whats left of it!

So sad Hodges was my favorite lake in the eighties, caught a lot of fish down by the dam when water flowed over the dam.

Re: Hodges or whats left of it!

Same, worth the drive in the 70s thru the early 90s. Even my Buddies caught lots of Bass. We got some Double Digits there too. Crawdads and big live Shiners were deadly. Then it just steadily went downhill. Less water, less fish. Finally not worth the drive from Orange County.

Imagine if...

Imagine if...
Lakes:
Moreno. Cuymacca, Sutherland, El Cap, San V, Otay, Hodges, Miramar, Loveland, Barrett, & even Murray were at just 75% full capacity
The city/county would have a safe, plentiful water reserve, the citizens could access & use these areas for recreational purposes, the city would ...

Re: Launch conditions @ Cap

The City told you....and they have never lied to us! I'll be NOT holding my breath! Hope you're right though! I remember when they said they'd repair the Hodges dam...nope, then they said they'd replace the dam...nope! Same with the El Cap dam..nope! Billions of gallons of water have been sent to ...

I would only encourage angry anglers to email Joe Little from NDC 7 for that piece he did on TV concerning ALL the water storage SD has......what BS.

FINALLY back on the water! San V 5/24

First time on the water since Jan. Hate it when the real world gets in the way of my fishing!

Hit up San V today. Got there about 6:15 and was surprised to find only 3 trailers in the parking lot. Was a beautiful, warm, overcast morning. Perfect for some top water, or so you’d think 🤷🏻‍♂️ Started ...

Re: Lake of the Horses...and cows

Great post maybe we should all try keeping a limit of those tiny (legal) bass. Especially with the water down and the bait exposed. It may actually help out the lake in the long run

Re: Question (Vail lake)

Update: it is $15 to fish and I got there early enough to beat the campers (lots of them all right near the ramp). And topwater frenzy went for about 45min, landed 2 and missed like 8 other blowups(slightly embarassed) then decided to hoof it to the other side of the lake. It was quite the adventure ...

Re: FINALLY back on the water! San V 5/24

Great to hear you got back on the water, we've been missing your reports! No doubt the thought of wakeboard boats tearing up the lake intimidated alot of fisherman from showing up! It's become very obvious this year that fishermen are 3rd class citizens in San Diego! Between the disappearing launch ...

It's become very obvious this year that fishermen are 3rd class citizens in San Diego! Between the disappearing launch ramps and the wakeboard boats, a fisherman with a boat is rapidly becoming an extinct species!! Our choices of where we can put our boats in has all but disappeared!

What’s ...

Re: Launch conditions @ Cap

With El Cap, Hodges, Morena, and Sutherland now below 15%, San V, Otay, and Barrett will be destroyed next! They have to keep Murray and Miramar up to run the filtration plants. The City has no money to buy water, so kiss your lakes goodbye....you'll be drinking what you used to be fishing! The ...
