Murray 1/14

I threw practically the entire arsenal at them today. The final count was 8. Nothing huge, but all were solid 2+ pounders so I am not complaining. Every fish came courtesy of a tiny Megabass Griffon crank bait. They just wouldn't touch anything else.

Now watch, tomorrow I'll go back to the same ...

1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?

I decided to take my kayak up to Miramar this morning and throw a wide variety of swimbaits.
There was only one boat that was launched and
no kayaks and not even a float tube. Add the fact that there are no trout stockings planned there, I knew it was probably going to be tough. I mixed it up with ...

El Capitan 1/16

Had a great time at El Capitan today. 9 fish in total. I threw my new Berkeley Triple Minnow rig for a while, and got no bites, but to be fair, I really need to put in some time learning to fish it. It does look good in the water.

All 9 fish came on a NED bait on a 1/8 oz jig. They liked it when I ...

1/20- SD River(finally)

I have been taking care of other things that I kept putting off and have not been fishing much at all. I think people have seen me at Home Depot and Lowes so much lately. that they must think I work there..ha ha. So this morning I needed a break and arrived at the river around 8:30a.m. Have not ...

Re: 1/28- Swimbait from shore

KillinTime wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 4:32 pm Gorgeous fish right there. Way to go!!
What was your retrieve? How did she bite and fight?
I almost always tend to work baits pretty darn
fast year-round, but was working the bait with
a fairly slow retrieve.

Did way better than me Vinny. I got 4 but they were all little carbon copies of this. Always great seeing you out there and chatting.

El Cap (2/7)

I was out of town last weekend on a snowboarding trip, which made it the first weekend in some time that I didn’t fish, so I was stoked to get out at Cap today. I got on the water at about 6:30AM and made a few casts with various crankbaits, but to no avail. Made a long kick/row to an area I’ve been ...

Otay 2/8

Fun day at Otay yesterday. The weather was beautiful and the water temp was 58. My final count was 11, nothing huge, but fun anyway.

Most came on a jig, or Ned bait with a couple of underspin fish thrown in for fun. Basically I worked the banks and points all along between the boat launch down to ...

3/13- Lake Miramar

I thought about driving all the way up to the Lake of D & K, but instead made a closer run up to Lake Miramar. Decided to just take my small 10' '5" kayak that has no electronics on it and also meant I could not take a lot of gear with me so I just loaded some worms and some creature type baits, a ...

El Cap (3/22)

Hi all,

I've been slacking on the fish reports over the past few weeks, but I've been out there and have had some solid days on the water. I got out to Cap yesterday and continued working on finding the spring pattern. I was on the water at about 7:00 a.m. with the plan to fish the hot spots that I ...

Re: El Cap (3/22)

Nice report.
I have always pinpointed it down to confidence. I have fished techniques in the past that I swear I sucked at. This a few fish later I was roping them, thinking this is my new go to. Trip after trip that technique is now putting them in the boat. My way of fishing it did not change ...

Re: El Cap (3/22)

After missing the Barrett Bash and not being able to fish for weeks I am chaffing at the bit to get out there once again and soak my jigs once again. I think that as well as you did and others who fished the Cap Id love to try this week sometime. Is the mud still a major concern for launching my ...

Lake Vinnybass funk!

I fished Murray on Monday and found a pattern I wasn't expecting. After hearing rumors of topwater and shallow action the last couple weeks, I was expecting a fish bonanza yesterday! Well...not quite what I was expecting! I did end up with 12 fish, but it felt very much like a weird postspawn day ...

El Cap 3/29 and 3/31

Hi all,

Here’s a quick report of 3/29 and 3/31 at Cap:

3/29: I dragged the jig around some rocks first thing in the morning and found a great bite. I managed to start the day off with 5 fish in the first hour with one weighing 4 lbs. even, another weighing 3.75 lbs. and the others weighing around ...

Re: Reports from San V?

KillinTime wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2026 3:00 pm You would think that with only Otay and San V being lakes big enough to support tournaments that still have launch ramps in the water, they would be getting hammered.
No doubt!! Otay reports have been a bit thin as well now that you mention it.

Lake Hemet

I went to Lake Hemet yesterday with my son. We threw night crawlers and power bait deep. At the same time fished around with gold and chrome Kastmasters for about four hours. Not a sniff. :(
