Re: What panfish can be found in San Diego?

There are Pumpkinseed in Lake Hemet and Big Bear Lake. They do well in higher elevations

CDFW is also trying to establish a unique Sacramento Perch population in Lindo Lake following the complete draining of the East Basin and soon to be drained and rehabilitated West Basin. It is critical that ALL ...

Otay Ultralight 11/25

Went ultralight fishing again at Otay. Caught a dozen or so small bass, but the highlight was seven large bluegill, all in the 2 to 2.5 pound range. Fish tacos here I come.

Re: Otay Ultralight 11/25

Very nice it sounds like you had tons of fun out there, THANK YOU for the report and sure you'll enjoy those tacos! I'm glad most people would rather fish for bass. I found schools of gills from my kayak in 20' off the main lake flats at El Cap on Saturday. Not big ones but fun size on light gear ...

Murray 11/29

I fished Murray yesterday for Bass and it was a slog. Five hours to drum up a few dinks. I had so much fun at Otay last weekend I decided to go back to Murray today with ultralight gear and hooked up with a mess of really nice fat Bluegills.

I am really getting hooked on ultralight fishing.

Clear Lake Crappie Action...

The Crappie Mecca!

Wish it was me...

Since I have nothing to report on the subject thought I'd share this really cool video of "Fishing Addict" out killing the 2 pound slabs. I watch a lot of his videos and he has that lake and live scope dialed in. He didn't have his scale. A few might had ...

Re: Lake Hodges Info 2024

It's still a far cry from having big bass boats zooming around at high speed.

Re: Lake Hodges Info 2024

Family

Just talked to my friend she runs the concessions at Hodges. Below I have listed rental boat fleet as of today.

Motor Boats = 13
Row Boats = 2
Pontoon Boats =2

Hopefully some one can provide some intel regarding today's crappie bite. Thinking about going this Saturday.

Thanks

Re: Fat Bluegill, San Vicente ... again? May 21

Thanks, Nice Halibut. I am one-for-one on Halibut surf trips and don't want to mess up my streak. Actually, I know it was just luck. Nice fish there. Thank you for the bluegill tips. I had no idea you were catching them where and how you described; good work!

Re: Murray Bluegill 09-22-24

There used to be a meter that had 2 transducers. One look down and one looked forward. It was portable, Hummingbird I think.

Re: Murray Bluegill 09-22-24

It sounds like you had a great time kayaking on Murray Lake! The bass activity must have been exciting, especially with the variety of techniques you used. Switching to a bluegill rig for those smaller fish seems like a smart move, and using your UL trout gear must have made for some thrilling ...
