Lake Morena
Went back out - hiked the east side up to the creek - water is way up - banks are 100 yards form where they should be - anyway, saw a few carp - the bass were eager, so still no carp for me - Henshaw has been the best so far for me in amount of carp seen

Re: Mission Bay 7/2
There are very few options for using an SUP on lakes in San Diego. SUPs are allowed at Lake Hodges and San Vicente. San V has haul-ass SKI BOATS everywhere, wake-boat big wakes, not to mention the bass boaters on our lakes that like to drive 70 mph everywhere. It can be very scary even in a kayak ...

Mission Bay 12/22
Fished the back of mission bay, afternoon outgoing tide. Was joping to get on a crankbait bite but they werent into it. Switched to the trusty weedless fluke and the bite was on. Loads of bait in clearish water. Nothing big but fun on light line.

Hey all,
I headed out to Mission Bay on Sunday super excited for some quantity of bites. It was a beautiful morning on the water and I hooked up on the 2nd cast with a crank. YES! Here we go...and then nothing for a while. It was actually a pretty tough day on the bay ...

Re: Mission Bay - stingray blues
I have seen Juvenile White Sharks feeding on Stingrays in Bolsa Chica. This happened last Spring and after calling people over, a large crowd developed. It was a full on Nat Geo moment.

SD Bay in winter
Launched from Cays, got a nice halibut, that pic is my avatar now. Wound up with 47 spotted bay bass and 2 halibut. Most were on a cow pie green (match the hatch???) curly tail grub on a 5/16 ounce ball head jig in 9-15' of water. Slow and low (1/2 crank, pause, repeat) retrieve as usual and feeling ...

Memorial Day Mission Bay Halibut
My son and I have been skunking so bad but I bought a kayak and we went out for the first time and got lucky. He caught 2 spotties, 2 calico, 1 sand bass, 1 halibut, and a spotfin on gulp plastics. I only caught one keeper halibut on live sardines trolling but we had a blast.

Homemade chatterbait, 10lb mono.

Re: Rock Fish for Beginners
Any of the good spots can go from "dead" to "wide open" very quickly (or vice versa) as the current changes. I use circle hooks 5/0 and above to help avoid killing the babies. Descending device or similar setup to help rescue little ones.
One more tip - good map (zoom out):

4/14 Reds and Reds
Great fishing on the DD for some taco eaters. Great time on the water, good time with friends.
I was stressed to fish a straight forward rig as possible. I fished 80lb to 40lb with 16oz of lead, 3/0s, wished I fished 5/0s.
Caught my 4 reds, my girl caught 4, and then I stopped fishing after ...
