Hello all,
Decent day at Hodges today. Got in line at 515, didn't need to. They opened around 600. Met Corso Enthusiast and we headed out. Air was chilly at about 45-50 F, but the water was a balmy 64 F. Went along the usual chase to the right and banged around the shore. First fish was around 645 and around a pound. He had friends and it was a pleasant time catching 1-2 pounders on small jerkbaits and my favorite little squarebill. All the fish were in probably within a couple feet of the shore, so casting as close to the bank as possible was the plan. Big fish for the day for me was a little over 2 pounds. Hooked a good one and she teased me by clearing the water, just to let me see how big she was. Then instead of breaking my line, she broke two trebles. I would have thought using a BFS setup, my line would be the weak link, surprise, surprise. Picture below. Met up with 1Fishdude also and we chased fish around in one of the bays. Threw larger jerkbaits and cranks, no luck. Also did try the lizard that has been good to me at some other places, but not Hodges. Morning felt like it might work for topwater, but that also was a miss. Day warmed up well and water was 67F at 1130.
Have fun out there.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I too have broken hooks on small bait, even brands with big names. Like you, my rods, reels and line have held up fine for the most part, but I've broken and replaced numerous trebles on baits.Early release wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 7:02 pm Hello all,
