7/22-Finally able to fish again

Post by VinnyBass »

The last time I fished was 14 days ago, which to me is a lifetime! Been pretty sick and took a while to recover(some weird stomach virus) and even lost 8 pounds. Finally able to start eating better and just when I was thinking of getting back out on the water, I suddenly found myself limping around in pain like a wounded animal as I got plantar fasciitis on my left foot. Icing it and trying to treat it but the pain was too much to get any fishing in. Still with a little pain, I decided this morning to just go
over to Murray and fish on the fishing pier for an hour of so. I chatted a few minutes with @coyote drop who was walking his dog, then limped slowly to the pier. It seemed like miles(especially limping) but I finally reached it and even though it was not an ideal situation, but at least I was able to fish. Not much happening but a few areas shad were being chased near the top
and I landed my IMA Skimmer close enough to have bass grab it. Not big, but it felt wonderful! Tried a few other things and had another healthier bass on a small jerk bait but it came unbuttoned right next to the pier before I could lift it up. I was so happy just to be able to fish I figured I would not stay much longer as I limped around the pier, but had to make just a few cast with a worm. I got lucky and landed another small bass and then headed home. Just being able to fish was such a highlight and landing 2 bass out of 3 was defiantly the icing on the cake. I never realized how important something is(like fishing) when you can't do it and can't wait till my foot is 100% better. A shout out to a guy I met named John who had to listen to me talk almost non-stop about fishing while he was on the fishing pier with me...he will probably never fish that pier again...ha ha. :-)

That made me laugh because even if he tried to tape record all I said.....he would have ran out of tape and if he tried to write things down, the pen would probably run out of ink ...:-) ha ha
