Secret lake besides Lake Miramar, Evans Pond

Have any of you guys been fishing here? I have went 2-3 times but ended up empty handed. My friend did catch two bass a couple weeks ago with a spinner and a popper, however i did hear a lot of fish died from a recent chemical/pollution spill a couple years ago, however I wanted to see if this spot is still healthy and active. I have seen a few baby bass and bluegill, however they were very picky, I saw one koi surface too. And I just wanted to know if anyone has visited here and if you guys have any tips for fishing here i'm welcome to receive feedback.

There's a die off every 2-3 years. Backyard biologists dump bass, koi, tilapia, and other pets in there. It gets overpopulated and over polluted from people tossing buckets of leftover for the ducks, another die off happens, and the cycle continues.

Damn, where did you find this information? Hopefully my friends bass isn't the only two big ones in the pond lol, he ate them. I wish the ecosystem could remain stable. It does seems like the place would start to die off right now based off of the pattern, however i didnt see anything dead yet. And hopefully it stays that way.

I think (don't know for sure) it doesn't have a decent oxygen supply and is essentially unmaintained, so the water doesn't get replenished often, resulting in regular die-offs. The last time I saw it was choked with vegetation and algae. I'm not sure I would eat anything out of it.

If it was choked with algae and vegetation there should have been enough oxygen in the water, maybe overstocking like the other guy mentioned? There isn't much underwater plants right now so maybe thats happening right now, but maybe in your case overstocking/pollution was the issue? Idk correct me if im wrong

I didn’t even know you could fish in it after all the years I drove by it going to Lake Miramar. I figured it was just an area to take the kids to look at turtles or have them try to catch a sunfish(or just feed the ducks). I never thought of any serious fishermen in there otherwise the place would be packed and no doubt someone would find a way to kick everyone out or start charging everyone as nothing seems to be free anymore.

Well yeah that pond is usually for feeding ducks, panfishing etc, however there are some 1+ pounders in there im sure. And i've never really been stopped, even though a few peopel come by, just be weary.

It's was pre-covid last time I was there. I do remember there was a die-off right around that time and a dude was reporting catching bass on the old forum right up until the die-off. Might be overstocking or maybe even an intentional fish kill? I really don't know.

Dang that sucks, hopefully the system can be mentained bc I dont wanna pay the entrance fee for the main lake lol

Last time I was there I was aiming for the big koi swimming around. Then the die off happened. Saw some Oscars (I think) but they died off too.
