The good news is the launch ramp is currently in operation. The water is about 83° never really changed throughout the day. We had 8 between us they were all over. They are still chasing bait balls out deep but seem to be dissipating in size. Most came deep in the tulles on punching rigs with creatures and craws. Take plenty of water it doesn't take long to heat up.

I've been at Miramar several times over the past couple of months. Water levels fluctuated a little over a month ago, which I believe was due to maintenance at the water treatment plant, and the lake was low for a few weeks. This resulted in a really fun reaction bite, with bass hitting baits like the Karashi, underspins, and other shad imitations all day. The water level is back to normal now, and the reaction bite seems to have dissipated. That said, I've still gotten good numbers of bass on dropshot throughout the day after the morning bite slows down, both when the water was low and when it returned to normal. Aaron's Magic or Margarita Mutilator Roboworms and small Keitechs in green pumpkin have been my top producers. I also saw a few schools of busters a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't get them to take anything. I did really well on a BassTrix LiveTrix 3-inch shad casting on schools busting in open water at Cap this past weekend, and I bet that would work at Miramar too. I plan to give that a try next time. I'm a beginner fisherman - just learning as much as I can and enjoying the ourdoors. I'm also very new here - in fact, this is my first post.

I intend to fish from my kayak at Miramar this coming Sunday. I've never fished there before.

I don't have a fish finder yet, and I only have one rod.

1) Are there any specific locations you can recommend?
2) I'm planning on using a Texas rigged Roboworm and maybe a Yamamoto Kreature bait, and if they get ignored, I'm getting a swim jig and Rage Swimmer tomorrow. I don't have any crankbaits or poppers. If fish are visibly chasing small bait, the best I have is a Beetle Spinner. Do you think I am covered with respect to baits?

Here is a few tips from me about Miramar.
Small flukes and small topwater hard baits or even small jerk baits can work if the bass are busting.
If the bass are not on top, your best bet is to either toss senkos or drop shots with a margarita mutilator or a purple colored based worm. Making casts along or parallel to the tulles works.
For me, I have found that sometimes healthier
bass are out in deeper water so I usually fish out away from the tulles. Regarding a Texas
rigged worm.....if you toss them with a very
light weight it could be ok, but heavier weights
will drag the worm down into the grass and vegetation down below. It would be a better
choice to toss a drop shot rig.Rig the hook
about 12 inches up the line so when the rig
goes to the bottom the worm with be more visible above the grass. Plan to pull in lots of grass no matter how you fish your plastic worms. Senkos rigged Texas style or Neko rigged can glide a little easier along the top of the grass below.
My usual pattern in my kayak is I like to start
fishing Woodson point and then on to Directors
Point and then venture into Carol Cove. No matter what you do...good luck to you.

I note your advice on the dropshot. However, I have one rod and a fluoro leader, so although this might be slightly less “optimal” on paper, it will be more practical for me on the water:-
I will start with a Roboworm, weedless Texas rig on a 1/16 oz bullet weight. I'll try cover the outside edge of the tulles and nearby deeper water. If I get no bites, I'll try the Kreature bait, and then lastly the swim jig.

They Had signs and roped off no boats. I guess you could walk around signs and ropes with a Kayak or float tube. I don't think they would enforce kicking you off the ramp or dock. They seem to not have any personel to patrol there signs. How was the fishing.

Ruben, a City of San Diego Lakes manager confirmed with me that kayaks and tubes could launch on a text Monday also.

When the ramp was closed for boats at miramar through the years, I was still able to launch my kayak and many times over the last few years also at Lake Murray. I never got harassed when I moved the cones and even drove down to the end of the ramp to unload and later pack up. I did made sure I put the cones back.

Not much shoreline to fish these days. The stretch to the left and right of the boat dock is there but be careful of rocks to slip on. There are a few areas along the lake but the fishing floats sometimes have been productive. Decades and decades ago there were tons of opening in between the tulles and as a young man I caught tons of bass from shore on plastic worms. Today the tulles have basically cut off 90% of shore fishing. If I went up there
to shore fish I would be fishing the stretch I mentioned and heading over to fish off a few of those piers. You can make long casts parallel to the tulles and reach deeper water also. Pumpkin and anything purple are the best colors in worms(MM on a drop shot may be the best choice or a Neko rigged Senko)
