Well after my last great session at Lake Hodges I went back yesterday and was on the water to early my old body was saying to me. I wanted to make it back to the structure I fished with great success my last time. It was a hell of a swim backwards even though i was using my new drill paddle i made. It seem like hours before i got to my spot and there was only another angler there to share my area and im glad he was there . As i pulled my jig over the structure it began moving in another direction and I set the hook very hard. When the fish finally broke water i hollered like a school girl with excitement but so did the unknown angler not 20 yards from me. for the next five minutes which felt like an eternity she came to the surface tuckered out. My net was within reach but damn it was to small so i grabbed her by the mouth and i wouldnt let go of her thrashing body. I lifted her up and was wondering how to take pictures and weigh her and shouted to the stranger. He came to help and we weighed her to my surprise she went just over 11 pounds. She measured over 20 inces and i know that because my tray has a ruler and its only 29inches and both ends of her were overlapping. My newest best friend whom i dont even know his name took my phone and managed some shots because i couldnt hold the phone and hoist her up o get good shots. As we let her swim away we both wondered how big she would have been before she spawned. Maybe next spring we will know?
