Question (Vail lake)

Has anyone ever fished at Vail Lake in Riverside county? Wondering...info is kinda hard to find online

Membership only as far as I know. Not sure if that’s changed.

I am pretty sure you can park at the campgrounds and hike down to the lake to fish. I think for info call the KOA campgrounds.
It's 10 dollars for a day pass to fish

Vail is accessible to the public through the KOA that operates day to day operations there. $10 per vehicle, shore fishing only, 6AM-6 PM. No boats, float tubes or kayaks. Fishing License required and all CDFW regulations are enforced.

We just finished the first population estimate of legal sized LMB there where we electrofished and marked 2187 LMB larger than 12" over 3 laps around the lake. We estimate the population to be ~5000-8000 with 53% between 11-13". The lake is stunted from too many years of C&R, so take your legal limit and help improve fishery.

Update: it is $15 to fish and I got there early enough to beat the campers (lots of them all right near the ramp). And topwater frenzy went for about 45min, landed 2 and missed like 8 other blowups(slightly embarassed) then decided to hoof it to the other side of the lake. It was quite the adventure but was worth the walk, only one other over there and bite was steady the while time. Landed the majority on cranks, squarebill, lipless, and "normal". With some worm fish mixed in. Highlight of the day was a massive explosion in the sticks on the rat! Had this for a long time and never caught on on it, until now! Final count was 22 and about 4 miles walked, great day!
