Can't fool me twice!
Last week I wasted 3 hours waiting for the busters that never showed up...not this week! I started out fishing creatures on rock piles in 8'-20' of water and found fish right off. If you didn't feel rocks or trees, you weren't getting decent fish! I ended up with only 13 fish, but the quality was better! Five of the fish were over 3lbs, with the largest being 4.2..! The temp got up to 94, started out at 52...made the morning bite more predictable than the midday bite. I won't be fooled by the topwater fish again...until maybe next week. It was a quiet day on the water...Vinny was hangin at the River with his homeless bros!

Nice job out there. Some of those bass look like they were caught at my rock pile, but I know you would
never do something like that with me at the river entertaining my homeless friends with non-stop fishing
stories....ha ha. Crazy how the topwater was going off and then changed so quickly where most lakes
once it starts, it usually picks up and gets even better. Of well....glad you went to other methods to
entice the bass to bite which was smart.

“Ended up with only 13.” Lofty standards compared to most of us mediocre anglers.

It seems like every week is a different pattern up there now! They're pulling water out now..it's down a couple feet.

Re: Can't fool me twice!
I agree, seems like for about a month now the pattern has changed from week to week.
I was busy cutting off lures from the week prior early in the am. I've learned not to get stuck throwing the same thing for hours if it ain't working in the 1st 30 mins. It was hot hot out there on Saturday as well but dam side water temp was like 79°f and to the right of launch all the way to the back was 82°f. Bunch of dinks hitting top in the evening on the back right side
Spinner bait was working for a few around me, minnow and Texas rig mega worm as well.

I normally not so stubborn, but the week before the busters started going off a little later and I was kind of expecting that last week....lesson learned...again and again!Dramad1 wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 1:28 pmI agree, seems like for about a month now the pattern has changed from week to week.
