5/22 Mission Bay
I went fishing 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.. caught 9 Bass. Biggest ones were 15 inches. The other ones were like 10 inches. Tried the free rig, sometimes I didn't know I had a fish on till I reeled up, lost a few not having a good hook set.

Do you think the free rig is any better than a jighead and soft plastic for spotties? I have tried it and didn't see an advantage.

Re: 5/22 Mission Bay
I prefer jig heads or drop shot, even Texas rig. Because I can feel the spotties slam the lure, and they hit hard. Free rig I did not feel the bite until I was reeling in or lifting my rod. Lost a few fish for that reason, bad hooksett. Maybe just need some practice.Gotfish? wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 6:33 am Do you think the free rig is any better than a jighead and soft plastic for spotties? Re: 5/22 Mission Bay
Nine good bass is a great morning for Mission Bay!
I’ve tried the free rig once and didn’t like it. It caught grass, so that’s a no for me
