Another Sunday, another 4 mile walk...with some fishing. Went late, got to ticket purchase around 1:30...then over to the other side for a walk to the dam. I always tell myself that I am going to walk fast to the dam and then fish slow on the way back...but that never happens. I decided to stick with a spinner bait for the walk up and was rewarded after a bit of a walk.

Had one other slap at it but missed it. So I went to the worm...after that there was plenty of bites but I missed more than I caught but here are some that made it to shore.

I would tell you the story about the big one that got away (all my fault) and that time I fell down on the rocks, but those are for another time...

I need a closing catch phrase...

Shore pounding! Love that your feet is your trolling motor. Grew up shore pounding and still do it nearly on the daily, but it's a cement walkway instead of rugged terrain like in years past.

I'm grateful that my buddies nowadays have the ability to have their own boats, but we often look back at the things shore fishing taught us. Our lakes up here, when full, are not very shore friendly so you're forced to break down a small point for hours on end and learn how to pick it apart. On the boat, we're moving from spot to spot and rarely break down a certain area like we used to do when we shore pounded.

“Breaking down a “spot”” can be the key. My home lake has no watercraft/float tubes. Many many years ago, I used to pound the shore with laps with good results. As I aged, I began to discover posting on one spot (usually a point) or something that has key features like deep water access proves the best success in numbers with more decent fish. You begin to see how the fish come in waves at different times. Move in, move out..etc. in my boat, I tend to fish too fast. In my tube, I fish a lot slower similar to shore fishing and will break spots down, hitting almost every inch (unless there is wind haha)
