Need help. Murray or San V?
Ok Boys, I need a bit of advice here. This coming Friday I’m going to be taking my wife, and hopefully daughter, out fishing. I have been fishing El Cap exclusively and the bite has been tough to say the least.
Between Lake Murray, San V, and El Cap I’m looking for the EASIEST fishing. Doesn’t matter if it’s 6” bass, bluegill, or 2-3lb bass.
I THINK I could get some fish in the very back of El Cap but the bugs back there would be an issue. I haven’t fished San V since Easter and it’s been even longer for Murray.
Where do I go?

The dinks at Murray are boiling and on the chew. This was the average size I was catching this morning

I am hardly qualified to say, especially after fishing Barrett almost exclusively the last 5 months, but you sure do know the V well. I looked and the water has dropped since Easter, from about 90 to 70 percent capacity. Maybe some old familiar spots are showing now? You seem to have an El Cap pattern figured out but when those fish stop eating, they really go lock jaw. Vinny or Dannicus would say Murray but then they live there lol.

Yeah, got 25 that size there on Fri., in a half days work. Some 1 pounders but a couple even smaller. Blind casting a small popper, the Bevy by Lucky Craft, thanks to Dannicus giving me one at Otay a couple of months back.Spektrum wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 8:42 pm The dinks at Murray are boiling and on the chew. Then again, I got 15 the week before, after four hours of Nada working clear water at San V., working the mud lines. Chatter baits And jerk Baits.

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?
In my last report, I made a promise not to post anything from Lake Murray for 2 weeks. I figured people are tired of seeing my reports about the darn good fishing it has been and mostly tired of seeing my mug..ha ha
Well I have kept my promise. Today is the 14th day and although I am not fishing today, I can just tell you that the bass are gobbling up shad and using reaction baits has been very effective in catching lots and lots of bass each trip during the last 2-3 months. Most are clones, but a few healthier ones in between and it has been lots of fun!
A bass recently thought my blade was a shad...ha ha

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?
Whether they are busting a lot or not....the bass are still filling up on shad below the surface. Finding them is sometimes
the frustrating part, but if you find shad balls the bass are not far behind. When they are busting it does make it more exciting
and fun, but even on days where they are not busting as much, it still produced numbers of bass.
Tight lines everyone and keep casting.

I think the San V fish are going to be a little bigger than what Murray is putting out now! San V also has a dropshot bite you can fall back on.

Thanks guys, Its going to be a coin flip I think. A lot will depend on if my daughter wants to join us. Wife is a little more patient so if its just her and I, San V may get the vote.
