Re: A spring day on San V...not!
Happy to see SDfish lives on! I was there this past Thursday in the wind and rain and the bite was great. My buddy and I had 35 fish on drop shots and jerkbaits in the 10-20ft range. Best quality was on the 6” Pro Green Pumpkin Roboworm with lots of 2-3lbers and a 6lb kicker. Think the weather had ...

DVL 4/19 (Video)
Took the tin can out to DVL for the first time on Wednesday. Fish were just starting to move up shallow. Saw a lot of big fish cruising the bank but they were uninterested in what I was throwing. I was able to get into 9 quality fish in the 2-5lb range off beds. Key was light line and Ned Jigs/ Drop ...

Re: Heartbreak lake
Nice one! Was planning on heading up there tomorrow. Will post a report. Any advice on passing the inspection? I just have a small Gregor so no livewell and it lives in my garage and should be bone dry.
Also did you see any carp in the shallows? Plan on bringing a fly rod to mess around with those ...

Re: Heartbreak lake
Dude, bring chamois or a bunch of rags. We spent four hours detailing the boat the day before. Only to wake up at 4am to major condensation- over a gallon easy across the whole boat and every compartment. (Aluminum boat)
Make sure there is zero dirt/debris, drain plug is out, no leaves, no water ...

The Far One 4/27
Hit the road at 6:30am and made the 1hr 20 minute trek from Oceanside to the most remote lake in San Diego County. Got my boat all dried up the night before but arrived to find out my cooler had tilted over and spilled all the melted ice into the boat 😩 Spent 20 mins getting that all dried up and ...

Re: Anyone have any hints on Diamond Valley Lake?
Light Line is the key at DVL. I wouldn’t be fishing anything above 7lb on finesse setups. Can’t go wrong with a drop shot there. Just make sure you have weedless hooks as the stick ups there can eat some tackle. I like the Roboworm Rebarb hooks. Check the backs of coves for late spawners and if not ...

Re: Hurricane Hilary: Category 4 storm barrels toward California
How warm does it need to be for them to spawn? Been over 70 for 2 months. 79 degrees in the back bay yesterday even after the water rolled

San Vicente Boilers (Video)
Fished San V a few times this past week and both days had a fun bite on breaking fishing all around the lake. Best action was before the breeze picked up from 8-12pm. Quick accurate casts and small flukes worked on or just under the surface was the key to success. A few fish also came on the dead ...

Now is a good time of year to chase Stripers at Lake Skinner. Get there early or late and look for fishing busting the surface on bait

Re: Best Huddleston/ big bass lake in SD
Been doing nothing but saltwater/offshore for the the last decade plus after being a strict bass fisherman and I wanna do some Huddleston big fish fishing this winter with my calico gear. Which lakes still get trout stocks? Which lake would I have the best chance at 8 + pounder on a big trout ...

Re: 11/27-Back to the SD River
A few years ago a friend of mine caught a steelhead in the river that runs through the La Costa Golf Course. DFW caught wind of it and electro shocked all the bass out of the pond it was caught in a few days later. Crazy stuff can happen! The fact that it looks dead isn’t surprising as Salmon start ...

Giant Blue Catfish on Light Tackle
Got out early at Lower Otay on Wednesday. Crowds were light and I picked up a few bass early AM on finesse swimbaits over the top of the grass. Once the sun came up things slowed down shallow so I went looking for Shad schools out deep. Picked up a couple more 1-2lb bass down in the 40ft range ...

Re: Why do I feel the need to fish a big swimbait?
I would focus on mastering the "basic" techniques first. You'll catch a lot more fish and it will make you a better angler when you do decide to start throwing bigger baits. Big Swimbaits Baits are just a tool in your bag. I think a lot of new Bass anglers skip over the basic techniques and go ...

T-Rig Green Pumpkin Baby Brush Hog will get bit at any lake in SD! Grass, Rocks, Tules, Sticks it can do it all
I've never fished a Brush Hog. Do you throw it weightless or with a bullet weight? Pegged?
Inquiring minds want to know lol.
I normally fish them on a pegged T-rig. 3/16th-1/2th ...

San Vicente Reservoir 1/19 (Video)
Late report. Fished San V on Friday from 8-1pm. Water temp started at 55 and crept up to 56-57 by the time I left. Started looking around shallow for the first hour but didn't get any bites on jerk baits or wacky rigged senko's. Went back to the old faithful drop shot Roboworm and started getting ...

Cool Patterned Leopard Shark
Thought I’d share a few pics of this beautiful female leopard shark we caught yesterday. Some of the coolest patterns I’ve ever seen on one! The Leo’s are thick in San Diego Bay right now and we have been catching multiple each trip in the South Bay

Lower Colorado River 3/14-3/16 (video)
A little late on the report but still soon enough to be relevant for anyone heading that way in the next week or two. We got out to the Martinez Lake area midday on Thursday and arrived to 20-25mph winds and cool/cloudy conditions. After a week of nice weather prior to this we weren't exactly sure ...
