These Torrance Beach corbinas and croakers all ate soft shells in the first trough this morning during the neep high tide.

To make it easier, I use a plastic crate-based rake to find those elusive soft-shell crabs. I keep it next to me and sift each wave as I fish. When the fish are in close, I like to chum handfuls of crabs directly from my rake into the trough to get their attention.

The softies are hard to find. I like your methodology and the results speaks for itself.

That’s fantastic Mike… They sure like the soft shells… I like the “chumming” too..
