Re: How many have found a lure and fished it???
Congrats on the fish, what a fattie. I've been watching videos on YT of divers cleaning up rivers and restoring lures. This guy got 220 in 45 minutes!
Imagine what it would be like diving in our reservoirs.

Re: Learning to fresh water fish for my grandson
What a wonderful read. IMO, the basics of freshwater fishing is the same as saltwater: find the structure, match the hatch. Freshwater seems to be more determined by the time of the day due to insect hatches and plankton blooms dictated by the sun, hence sunrise and sunset are typically the best ...

Re: Henshaw
I went out with @tubefly on Saturday chasing carp on the fly. We ran into a huge school of crappie about the size of a basketball court that was barely within reach of our fly lines wading up to our waist. Bill got four crappie but didn't take any pics so I don't think they're of any size.

Henshaw has been great.
The past two weekends I've been going out with Tubefly . I've been exclusively sight fishing for Carp, but Bill doesn't have the patience and vicinity-fishes with an indicator. I got four carp last week and six yesterday, and lost a whole bunch more. But more importantly, I had the most shots on ...

Re: Sd River Channel advice
Interesting, although I don’t think so. We heard a few splashes that were too big to be mackerel. Only way to know for sure is to go back and actually land one!
It's a guess based off of observing macks attacking the surface way back at the Liberty Station boat ramp at sunset. It doesn't take a ...

Re: Henshaw has been great.
What kind of gear are you guys using to fish for carp? I'm just getting into it have fished probably 30 hours and only two missed hooksets. Half or more of that time at Barrett! Starting to think I'm cursed haha
No, that's carp fly fishing for you. There's a reason they call them golden ...

Spotfin on the fly
My first spotfin! Red krabbypatty fly at Blacks, 7:00AM, -1ft tide. Kelp was a nuisance and got worse as the tide came in. I did not see any corbina.

Re: [Late] Report for June 19
Good looking fish you've got there. I'm baffled at the fact that you got both you and your boy on your tube.

Re: Fishing on the 4th
Curious if anyone has experience fishing on the 4th. A few years ago I was surf fishing in the morning, off the water by 7AM, and there was a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot and fighting over my space. Is it a zoo at our local reservoirs?

Even better, carry a rubber net, weigh the fish in the net and subtract the net's weight.

Grove Fire
I was fishing Henshaw on Wed when a storm rolled into the valley around noon. Lightning and thunder were going off in the distance and we made our way back towards the car to be safe, but as it approached from the south, the wind blew it east and we were able to keep fishing with lightning strikes ...

Corbina are still around
Howdy folks. I haven't been fishing much, but have a a few recent opportunities to visit the beach. The water is colder, but I still saw some beans in the surf. My wife got a new job at Scripps. Today they gave her a tour of the pier, and she sent me a picture of this huge school.

Re: Lake Henshaw
Hey! Yep, you can definitely kayak at Lake Henshaw. It’s a great spot for a peaceful paddle, and you can even do a bit of fishing while you're out there. Just make sure to check current conditions and any rental or launch rules before you go. Enjoy 8-)
False. Only boats. Too windy, too many ...
