I've personally never done that well at LS, but I have seen others catch bonefish, corbina, angel sharks, and even white seabass. It's about 15 feet deep in the middle of the channel.

Fishing is allowed. Small bluegills and bass, a couple of koi.

Check out Poway Creek if you want bass, too.

Good point. True sculpins, such as cabezon, are from the Cottoidea family, whereas the California Scorpionfish is from the Scorpaenidae family.

I have my serious doubts about the salmon. I've only seen one pic, and it's poor quality. I would imagine it would have receive a lot of more attention if true. Heck, I saw dead carp a few months ago when O2 levels dropped.
