I forgot to add, if your getting a lot of snags.
You can cut 1/4” surgical tubing to slide over your weight , it will pull off and you’ll get your weight back.
Good luck

Sweets again 5/6
When back again same pattern. Fishing was very slow. Started off by catching a carp yay!
Carp for me is usually some bad luck so I moved to a different spot as far away as I could get from any visible carp action.
Still very slow as far as the bass action was concerned but the patience paid off and ...

Re: May 9- Lake Miramar
Sounds like it might not take 30min with your report.
You could always cast it, then sit on your rod but and dead stick it. Ive caught two at Murray doing that while throwing a glide bait in my hobie.
Actually I do appreciate you reminding me to not forget to toss a swimbait once in a while ...

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
The 1/16 and 32nd hair jigs get bit really well on the tow. Also as a slip bobber rig.

Re: Anyone Ultralight fishing Bass in Barrett?
My spinning setups are all 4, 6 or 8 pound test, those are for finesse, jigs and jerkbaits. Baitcasters are 10, 14 or 17 pound test. Those are for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and topwater. I agree with Camobass, I haven't seen that the fish are very line shy at Barrett. I also agree with Otaymichael on ...

Re: El Cap 11.24
I lived in Tennessee for 2+ yrs and there is "No launch fees on most ramps and no fees to fish", you go 7/24 and fish 365 days a year.

Re: Last & First Bass
Rumor has it, JIMBO is coming out of retirement this year and will be putting on a clinic at Murray
I have fished on the same days he said he was there slaying huge bass and I never had the pleasure of meeting or even seeing him.
I hope this time when he is landing all those huge bass and I am ...

San V 1/15
Today is why I love fishing! After the last couple of trips I felt pretty confident that I had the deep bite pretty well figured out…..WRONG!!
On the water at opening. It was a very crisp 35 degrees when I launched. After a very cold run I started out throwing an A rig while I was waiting for the ...

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn
That’s his legal right (unless he’s not a license holder). There is no law that states you can’t take a fish at any time of the year unless the lake is strictly catch and release like Barrett. There’s no way to regulate harvest during spawn as that happens at different times per location and some ...

Re: Most amazing thing at El Cap 4/22
So you can net Threadfin Shad by the hundreds but you can’t snag them one at a time. That is another crazy California Law. At Lake Perris I saw a guy catching them on bread and a size 20 hook. Perhaps that’s what I did….

Re: 5/1-Tough morning/SD River
I read this and snorted. Like Jim, I do checklists, because well, old. But most of them are in my head, so there's the added fun of maybe not remembering the checklist, much less the checked item. It's good you went anyway and even got a fish.
When I am not fishing out of my boat, I ...

Lake Henshaw Bass + Carp on the Fly (video)
Made the drive out to Henshaw yesterday to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather. Forecast for Warner Springs area said "A nice day for outdoor activities" so I had a feeling it was going to be good day!
