Bay 6-5

Got a hall pass to go fishing and decided I needed to hit the big bay. Launched from shelter at 930 am and went straight across to north island. Fished several depths and found a few fish in about 15-20 feet. I threw mostly swim baits with the occasional drop shot. I made a move to tidelands and ...

Re: Bay 6-5

You might have seen me then. Fished from a float tube, south of the bridge, got 22 spotties and 2 corvina. Best bait was a Missile 3.5” Shockwave on a standup weedless head worked slowly on the bottom. Slower than usual day. Usually I get smaller fish in South Bay this time of year.

Re: Bay 6-5

Nice, thinking about taking the boat out there soon. That's actually why I was checking out the bay section :D

SD Bay July 1&2

My dad and I fished around SD Bay on Saturday and Sunday. The bite was good early on Saturday, but kind of died once the big tide swing started in the evening. I hooked into 2 batrays, one was about 20lbs, the other was somewhere near 100. I only hooked them on 12lb leader, so the ~100lber broke off ...

Re: Mission Bay Fatality Over Weekend

Too sad. I was out there two weekends ago for the first time and had my kids on the board with me. They should probably bouy off the mouth of the cove and just leave enough open for boats to get in and out. Hopefully no one would go charging in there that way.

Mission Bay 8/13

I fished the south Pacific passage from 6:00am till 9:00am. Caught 9 bass. Loss just as many. Had the place to myself didn't see anybody else fishing out there.. maybe because it was kind of choppy and a little bit of wind. I just drifted around in the current .

Apple bottom vines

Heres some recent shortfin corvina pics. I got the SFC bug for a couple months and let it interrupt my green fish game. It was fun, but after dropping a 9lb largemouth this weekend right at my feet, I'm kinda over it. Goin back to freshy. A couple of these fish were 26-27" the rest were medium sized ...

Re: Apple bottom vines

when i was young, i was 99% c&r. that was mostly due to laziness and a lack of cooking skills.

in my house we’ve been eating fresh fish for over 25 years, makes it kinda hard to buy fish. especially when i go fishing every week

have you seen the price of fish lately.

Re: fishing spot between Liberty Station park and Corvette diner

I've personally never done that well at LS, but I have seen others catch bonefish, corbina, angel sharks, and even white seabass. It's about 15 feet deep in the middle of the channel.

Big Bay Tropics Style 9-10-23

Got on it from the Natty City ramp around 7. It was calm, smooth, with a hint of tropical rain here and there. Steady spotty bite on plastics/underspins at Square Mile. Figured there might also be a channel bite and slid out to the main just south of the bridge. Instantly rewarded with a better ...

Re: fishing spot between Liberty Station park and Corvette diner

Those jumping fish...If they're big silver fish with white bellies coming out of the water two or three feet, those are mullet. And unlike the highly functional, always fashionable haircut that shares their name, these fish are very difficult to acquire. They are largely vegetarian and don't often ...

Re: fishing spot between Liberty Station park and Corvette diner

I fish there all the time. I call it the "back bowl" or boat ramp. I've caught all the usual's out of there. Spotties, tiny barred sand bass, halibut, smelt, corvina, yellow fin croaker, and even 1 sargo. All caught on plastics. I've never caught a bonefish there or anywhere but they probably are ...

Re: fishing spot between Liberty Station park and Corvette diner

The bones do come in there on the flood tides.

There's much better spots to fish as a bank beater, even putting in months worth of time at this spot never yielded anything much compared to other productive areas. Only thing guaranteed is a case of deafness after a couple planes take off.
