Re: El Capitan 1/16

This came just in time! Planning on fishing El Cap tomorrow. I’ll be tossing the ned rig, but I just picked up a new setup for my moving baits that I have yet to break in, so hopefully I’ll be able to get on one or two crankbait fish as well. Thanks for the intel, and tight lines!

Of course ...

Re: 1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?

Interesting how bass will ignore fancy swimbaits that have been carefully designed to look like trout and other natural bait, some which cost over $100, but will eat a Senko which doesn't look like anything they have eaten. Or weird colors like junebug.

FYI, those bass have no trouble telling the ...

River Monsters reboot..... negative 47 on Rotten Tomatos

A sunset walk in Mission Trails wouldn't be complete without a bass.

That is almost a bass. Homemade spinner. Got to check out how this year's storms affected one section of the river. Only actually fished for a half-hour, but got some steps....

Re: El Cap (1/17) and Miramar (1/18) - New PB

Awesome fish. What was your setup for drop shot . Had to be lite. Impressive. Thanks for update.

Thanks for reading! It’s pretty light, but not as light as I know a lot of guys will go with their finesse stuff. I run 15lb high-vis yellow braid to a roughly 12 foot 8lb flouro leader with a 1/4th ...

Re: El Cap (1/17) and Miramar (1/18) - New PB

Congratulations on your personal best, my buddy and I went out to Lake JENNINGS looking for Bass. They had a trout plant not too long ago so we tried at some spots we’ve done well before. We were thinking about going to Miramar when we decided on JENNINGS not that we would’ve caught anything ...

Re: 1/28- Swimbait from shore

KillinTime wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 4:32 pm Gorgeous fish right there. Way to go!!
What was your retrieve? How did she bite and fight?
I almost always tend to work baits pretty darn
fast year-round, but was working the bait with
a fairly slow retrieve.

Re: Lake Poway trout season is still on!

any recommendations for fishing setups for trout? Might check it out soon

Mini jigs seem to work best overall for me. Get a light pole with 2-3lb test line and cast different colored mini jigs, 1/16 or 1/32 oz.

Re: Cuyamaca State Park Fishing

Yes. They used to be loaded back in the day with big rainbows but I’m 99% sure they haven’t stocked them in many, many years. This was back in 80’s and 90’s. There could be some epic fishing in sweetwater “river”. You might be able to catch some bullhead cats in the deep pools still.

Native Rainbow Trout

**I know this is SDFish but i wont disclose which southern California county this is in**
There's a place i hiked to as a boyscout for weekend trips and i remember bushwacking for quite a while one time and finding a pool deep in a canyon that had trout in it. Catch up 20 years later and i couldn't ...

Re: Native Rainbow Trout

So cool.
Bad knees, but mostly just lazy so I don't do this kinda thing anymore. But it reminds me of the easy-access spots along Beasore Creek (Near Yosemite), where you only have to hike a little bit to find small, very wild fish in tiny pools.

Helena, MT - Missouri River

We are in Helena Mt for the next week and a half for my son’s wedding. Staying at our future in laws cabin right on the Missouri River. Talk about gorgeous and serene!

Missouri River cutbows Helena, Montana

With the wedding stuff over, our vacation can finally begin. Got on the water with my son for a couple of hours this morning. Absolutely gorgeous landscape to fish in. Not a person or building in sight. Eagles flying overhead and the trout were willing to play. I got 4, lost two and missed several ...

San Vicente Kayak Panfish May 19

My second trip to San V this year, and found the bluegill and redear biting pretty good in the late afternoon. Even some lowly bass.

Dropshotting half a crawler gets it done. All fish were released.

Hodges Crappies

So,

As everyone knows Hodges opened last week. I've been starving for a crappie bite all year. I had to go. Plus the kids have been asking to get out as well. Thought it was the perfect opportunity for both.

Got there in line before it opened to ensure we got a rental.

The ramp is now the parking ...
