Re: Bucktails In Surf ?

We used to get quite a few Halibut and big Perch on 1/2 to 3/4 ounce white Roostertail Spinners. You just have to be sure to wash them off with freshwater and store them in a dry place or they lose their luster. They cast a long ways and, with the feathered treble hook in the back, catch most ...

Re: Mission Beach 11/26

Hey Joe, I was at Mission as well this morning, by BP where T 13 is usually located. First time out for me in almost a month - - back & knee issues so haven't been walking the beach much. Were you the guy with the wide brimmed hat just past the LG station & then moved north ? I sure didn't have the ...

Re: Cardiff/SB 11-26

Man today was weird...
Hit incoming for the first time in a month. Low tide and day break coincided wave power at a complete zero rating. Man it felt all lined up.

On the water by 630 absolutely nothing til about 830 then 3 on back to back casts. Then nothing. Went for a late breakfast at Ki's ...

Thank you "jwacky" - Mussels worked great!

Hello all,

Had this entire week off, and decided to try "Jwacky's" suggestion for using mussel meat.

I bought a pack of frozen mussels from H-Mart.... What a WEEK!

I caught so many high quality fish! Slab perch, Giant smelt, and several BIG corbina.

I had 2 days with over 20 fish.

For the sake ...

Quick Dana Point Jetty session

Spent 2 hours at Dana Point Jetty, tried lures, squid, shrimp and lugeworms and didn't get a bite. The last half hour pulled out the old trusty night crawlers and was instantly bit. Ended up catching 10 white perch the last 30 minutes

Re: Big Low tides

Yesterday, I threw 5 inch Swimbaits into the deep holes right along the Surfline at low Tide.. Think of the days you see the Surfers walking in and they have to get back on their board and paddle to shore. Also recognized by the breaking surf quits well before the shoreline. I got a couple 18 to 20 ...

Re: Coronado fishing

First time fishing Coronado, bay side no doubt far enough. Ocean side I thought I need about 20’ - 30’ more. I didn’t wade out much more than shin deep. Had a 3/4 weight on. Just reading the water it seemed I was a little short.

Re: Coronado fishing

jwacky, yeah maybe if they play there again. I definitely would try the bay side especially if the wind was westerly. The beach had a lot of trash on it, especially plastics. Even a “beach whistle” which I thought was an east coast thing. Plenty of parking there and easy walking.

Re: Coronado fishing

My quests start from Anaheim, I was 0 for 9 before I was successful. My next quest is a Lake Trout out of Tahoe on my Kayak. I understand the locals up there get them on the slo pitch jigs over meter marks. I’m all for it plus I hear they are spectacular eating. Others on the list are Tiger Muskie ...

Re: Big Low tides

I am definitely intrigued by the small waves and the low tide... in my head, its like pier fishing from the shore. You can the bait/lure WAY farther into the water than you ever would in normal conditions! I just typically only have morning availability to fish, and the extreme high tides can ...

Re: Mission Beach 12/13

Thanks for the report… Good info… I’ve been using dried blood worms, and like you with the lug worms, I appreciate the ease of use and lack of mess.. And most of all effectiveness…. Good fishing..

Re: Big Low tides

From Friday. This one came about 3 feet from the sand, right at the drop-off, probably no more than 2-3 feet deep. This trough ran about 40 yards parallel to the beach adjacent to a small reef. I believe baitfish use these depressions to move up and down the shoreline and just beneath the white ...
