Re: El Capitan shut down for all of august due to excessive heat?
If someone wants to recreate to the point they die because of the heat? I say let Darwin cook.

Re: Best Wind Direction ?
The way I learned (which could very well be wrong) is to fish the wind at your front, or blowing towards you. The reason being is that the top water current will blow any forage towards you and any fish looking for a meal will follow that forage.

Re: Best Wind Direction ?
Fresh water, I’ve always experienced better fishing on the bank or structure that the wind is blowing against (in your face if you’re on shore or to your back if you’re on the water) The wind tends to push everything the micro stuff is feeding on.
Offshore, wind in your face in a drift. Also wind ...

Re: Hurricane Hilary: Category 4 storm barrels toward California
I'm hoping for some pretty stellar corvina fishing after this thing passes. Water hasn't been warm enough for a good spawn this year so hopefully that warm water and the rain trigger something. A little early though, usually they have a smaller second spawn in the fall anyways.

Re: What combo has a more forgiving drag, smooth fight?
For LMB fishing, I'm using straight braid a lot more and can't see my line choice evolution turning back.
For the concerns about riping hooks/ baits away from fish, which combo, spinning or baitcasting would be considered to compensate more for this worry?
I am more accurate with a bait caster ...

Re: What combo has a more forgiving drag, smooth fight?
Thumb “technique” at your own risk. I’ve witnessed many many MANY fish lost with people thumbing the spool when a fish is trying to run.

But the OP is aiming for LMB, no need to be gentle, just grind them in.
With braid, use a thicker hook and break their necks with fast reeling.
They are a ...

Re: What combo has a more forgiving drag, smooth fight?
Thanks. Actually, my original post was a bit low on details. Good variety of comments.
As someone pointed out it was for LMB fishing.
Not worrying about braid on single hooks like jig heads and stuff.
Fishing jerk baits and topwater with braid. Just the lighter versions on spinning and the ...

Re: MORENA LAKE – ALERT
Considering it never use to happen, yep, it's happening more! I think it's especially unhealthy for dogs. Seems like most San Diego lakes have some sort of problems going on...good job water department..I know, blame it on global warming...ha!

Re: New Loveland Updates

It's hard to believe that they will do any work towards fixing Loveland! They have a reputation for doing nothing for the City Lakes!!! Hodges and El Cap would not have ...
