Sept15 HODGES
Got to the lake early in the morning along with very few other anglers. Got the pontoon set up and off I went on my quest. Since we are heading into the fall I figured I would try to catch the bass with large jigs because I know they will soon be trying to gorge themselves ahead of winter. I was ...

Re: Cuyamaca State Park Fishing
I can confirm there was trout in one of the areas mentioned last fall. I can also confirm that area was full of poison oak which is enough to keep me from really going for it as I'm highly allergic and have to be super careful.
good to note, I should probably study up my botany in case I run ...

Re: Keeping Mackeral for a few days.
If you do freeze it, cut it into the pieces that you are going to use first and remove as much moisture as possible with a paper towel first. If its only a few days I'd stick with the fridge or ice-chest. Pat down with a paper towel every day or two. I used to save macks for shark bait when I was a ...

Re: Keeping Mackeral for a few days.
Toss them in a ziplock bag and throw them in the freezer, catfish will find it eventually if you're not in the same area saturated with other "non-lake" stench

6/13- Murray
Just a pic of my third cat I have caught while fishing for bass at Lake Murray. This one gobbled up a brush hog. It took about 20 seconds
as I was thinking it was a nice bass, but soon realized it was probably a cat. This was the smallest of the 3 and weighed 6.75lbs.
The point east of the boat dock ...

Re: Keeping Mackeral for a few days.
Don't add any water, but cut up & let soak in it's own blood & juices & marinate for like 48-72 hours room temp.
Then freeze until you gonna fish & thaw out at least 48hrs
Chicken livers are good bait too.
Soak them in mackerel juice for 48 hrs & freeze.
Again, thaw 48 hrs prior to use.

Now I Believe It - San Vicente Jun 12th
Last week after a year of forced hiatus, I finally got out fishing and had a good day. But it only gets better, because this week I got to share it with and old friend. Like last week, it was a short day of about 3 1/2 hours. I always feel pressure to catch some fish when someone goes with me, but ...

Re: Now I Believe It - San Vicente Jun 12th
There are some monsters in there. Other then the Colorado river chain, the size of panfish are under 12" in most places. We have a Jewell.
I will be out sharpening by skills next week. ( I have a ways to go) I'm glad its a life long hobby.

Otay before Hillary
The kids have been ready for another trip since we did so well @ Hodges a couple of months ago. I've been hearing the bluegill bite was on @ Otay so I thought we would give it another try. I say another try as I've taken the kids here a few times and we never seem to have a good day. My son labeled ...

Giant Tilapia
Got this guy as bycatch during a recent trip with a crank bait. 7lbs on the boga probably the biggest I'll ever catch. Thought it would be cool to share.

Re: Fat Bluegill, San Vicente ... again? May 21
...
I'm looking at Blackclouds' post here, and it's in the springtime.
What's the likely bluegill pattern now, Please? Where to start looking. Points?
I generally do not fish these in the summer, only because I'm busy with other fish elsewhere near home. Last week

Bay 6-5
Got a hall pass to go fishing and decided I needed to hit the big bay. Launched from shelter at 930 am and went straight across to north island. Fished several depths and found a few fish in about 15-20 feet. I threw mostly swim baits with the occasional drop shot. I made a move to tidelands and ...

SD Bay July 1&2
My dad and I fished around SD Bay on Saturday and Sunday. The bite was good early on Saturday, but kind of died once the big tide swing started in the evening. I hooked into 2 batrays, one was about 20lbs, the other was somewhere near 100. I only hooked them on 12lb leader, so the ~100lber broke off ...
