3/10-Ended up at Lake of D & K

Post by VinnyBass »

Well I stayed up late(1a.m.) and with the clocks pushed ahead the next thing I knew it was morning. I didn't sleep well and woke
up a number of times and kept thinking about fishing even though I had not planned to fish today. After breakfast I quickly made a
decision to fish and started gathering and selecting tackle to put into my kayak. I figured maybe a few hours down at Otay would be
fun. As I drove 8 east, and ready to take 125 South, I cut back onto 8 east and don't know why, but soon I was on 67 north and heading
to the Lake of D & K.
I did not get on the water till about 8, but fishing anytime of the day is always better than not fishing.
I noticed that the water came up a foot or so since last Friday and was very entertained watching a couple guys try to launch a bass
boat. It was pretty crazy how deep that truck backed up and very close to becoming a YouTube video on the don'ts of launching, but
the launch was finally successful.
Anyway........with a mix of tossing plastic worms and a jig, I ended up catching 7 bass. I broke off a very healthy bass in a tree on
a senko and missed 3 other bites, but happy to land some bass even though most of them were very small on a lake I had not
originally intended to go to. On the long drive home I was thinking about the one that broke me off and some of the tiny bass I
caught that probably McFish hooked on Friday. One tiny bass not much better than a senko almost choked on it...maybe that
is why Mcfish uses tiny roboworms....not that there is anything wrong with tiny... :-)

The biggest of the small bass....ha ha

I'll teach you the proper method of biting the heads off 4" robos..and then you can also catch massive amounts of small bass! That jig will scare 90% of the fish in D.K.now!

I just had to post this little bugger that almost choked on a 5 inch senko.......I pulled back to set the hook and did not feel anything
because he must of been coming towards me and he was so tiny that I lifted him in the kayak and the hook was not even set, but the
senko was still wedged in his throat. Hey McFish, if I bit the head off of the senko I might of caught his baby brother instead.
I just had to laugh. :-)
