Re: Stockingfoot wader boots

Get booties with thin neoprene, 3 mm or less. They slide over the waders much easier than thick ones. I use Force Fins for flippers which I like better than anything else I have tried. I have problems with longer fins breaking the surface which I think may spook the fish plus be less efficient. Make ...

Re: Stockingfoot wader boots

I use some Simm's neoprene wading socks with a gravel guard. The HotSpot fins I'm using fit nicely around them.

Re: Storing gulp baits

Pretty much any thing you use will leak after awhile if you are using it on the sand... Sand will destroy any seal you have and make the bait container leak... I use old prescription pill bottles, and after a couple of uses toss out in favor of a new one... They don't leak, a bottle will hold 1 pack ...

Re: SHARE Fishing

It doesn’t matter with posting up information, there’s over 101 plus applicants for the prize(s).

It’s just the luck of the draw, granted, I have been to one so I’m a bit biased.

Good luck everyone, put in your fee!!

Re: Trout stocking at Barrett

Let’s say it was allowed or could happen, a one-time dropping of raised trouts and would this produce larger largemouth bass?

A) Won't happen from CDFW's supply. Limited entry/access, only open in the warmer months, trout are not stocked to feed bass. The City could waste money it doesn't ...

Re: Trout stocking at Barrett

The lake has bluegill, crappie, bass, crayfish, threadfin shad, silverside, bullhead, young waterfowl and insects as forage. There are plenty of forage options available and adding one more isn't going to change the fact there are too many mouths to produce bigger bass. Reduce the predation pressure ...

Re: Trout stocking at Barrett

Years ago, I was kicking back to the car at Barrett around 6 pm and off of Desolation Point in the deeper water, probably about 20'. I had a good day, with 40+ fish. I saw a guy who had been fishing that area all day and asked how he had done. He said he only caught 7 bass but they were all over 7 ...

Re: Trout stocking at Barrett

After just getting back from Bacarrac, I can now say that the amount of tilapia in that lake and the fact that fish are continually stocked and harvested has created a ton of big bass. They have a staggering number of tilapia! Looking at Live Scope on the boats I had no idea that so many tilapia ...

Re: Fees for 2026?

Boat reservations are the same $$ as last year......$150.00 plus Ticket master fees, includes 1 fisherman....3 more may be added @ $40.00 per person. Yackers, tubers and shore pounders are $40.00 per person plus Ticketmaster fees. These fees are reviewable by the City every 3 years, which means they ...

Barrett Lake May 7th report

Hi all,

Barrett is open for 2025 and it looks to be a promising season. Got on the water around 0500 and pedaled across the lake. Air temp was a chilly 50F, but the water was 62.5 F. First fish for me came 0517, Chuck had already gotten several by then on a jig. I was using a texas rig lizard and ...

5/25 report and mystery solved

Another great day on the water Sunday. Motoring out by 6, this time with a boat rental. We explored Pine Cove — haven’t been there for a while. Finally got some top water action going with my dad’s really old popper. I feel like I know what the action should be like now. Caught both large and small ...

Father’s Day 2025 and the Bass Were Gifting!

Got on the water at 4:45 and headed out on an absolutely perfect temp morning and lake surface. The bass were taking care of us fathers with a healthy bite until we left. Our usual rocky spots in Hauser were biting the pumpkin/pumpkin jigs hard, with us lipping 50 healthy models by 8am. Things ...

The Murray Juice 10/9

Here is a picture of the bait that did most of the damage at Murray yesterday.

It's a Rapala Crush City Ned BLT on a 1/0 EWG hook. The weight is a Nako skirted 1/8 oz.

I like to focus on rocky areas with it, but it's lightweight, and extremely weedless. You can work it over and through grass and ...

Murray 10/22 hot bait

It's been a year or so since I've thrown this, and yep it still works.

Gamakatsu #2 light wire EWG hook, Zoom tiny Brush Hog in green pumpkin, and a 1/16 oz Nako tungsten bullet weight.

I don't peg the weight and pull it along the bottom and over vegetation giving it frequent little bounces then ...

The Jetty Giveth, the Jetty Taketh Your Shin

https://i.ibb.co/5gcCY6w4/20250710-144002-2.jpg

I realized something this week. I haven’t actually fun fished in a while. Like, just gone out to fish without a tournament hanging over my head like the cloud that follows Eeyore everywhere.
