Fished 3.5 hours. 2 hours of bass, caught 19. 16 were small, 11-14 inches. 2 about 2lbs, one quality fish 3.5lbs. Was just trying to quickly cover all my usual spots and go through all my usual baits to see what was up. Every spot produced ok, every bait worked well. It's Barrett. I was pretty bored with the small fish and was going to work my way in when I accidentally found a massive school of crappie. Almost all around 1.5lb. Caught almost certainly 50+ in the next 1.5 hours. The rare times my jig made it past the crappie, I caught a big bluegill. The panfish all fought harder than 16 of my bass, awesome stuff. 32 years in and Barrett still has amazing new things to show me. After an epic 2024 crappie year, last year sucked for them, now I'm pretty amped to find the real big ones again this year.

Exciting to hear about that crappie and bluegill bite! Every time I go fish I always bring an ultralight for just that reason!
Was this school suspended out in open water or more hanging around some cover or structure? what color jig worked? Last year was actually really productive for me with the crappie, which was a surprise.
