With Barrett closed on the first Wednesday of the month, I needed a fix. Got to the bridge around 115 with about 3 hours until high tide. Started where it was wide open last time and spent an hour+ for 0 fish. Used the trolling motor for a slow controlled drift and got into a few fish out in Atlantis as I approached the bridge. Got a couple passing through the bridge and on the other side but it died eventually. I headed back toward where the bite started and switched my 3/8oz to 1/2oz as the wind was absolutely ripping and the grass wasn't as thick as the previous week and just focused on that area. Left them biting at 445 as I wanted to get the boat back and catch the end of happy hour.
Ended up with 17 spotties which is a solid day in my book. No legal fish but a couple grumpy 12-13 inch models. 1 halibut short bite and had a bonita come unpinned at the boat. 2 fish on a curl tail, 15 on paddle tails (bait fish and green/gold patterns). 3/8 and 1/2oz jigheads. 1/2oz was definitely the key to success toward the end. Tons of baitfish around both of my last trips. Wish I would have had a jerkbait or some sort of iron to give a few casts.
