Well since I have been enjoying the Skeeter so much this year, I wanted to go again. Worried about El Caps ramp and Friday's warming temp (I like to fish when it's cooler for sure), I headed down to Otay.
Got there at the crack of dawn, Headed to Otay Arm and got one right away on the whopper plopper. I thought it was going to be game on... wrong. No more topwater bites for me.
Ended up with 4 bass, one on Whopper P and 3 on the finesse Carolina Rig. My buddy got one on a shakey head. All were clones. Skinny Otay fish.
Sun came out early today. I was suspecting that the weather change, after weeks of deep gloom and fronts, may have slow them down?
Light wind until noon. Water temp was 66ish Great day to be on a boat.
Saw lots of guys chasing suspended fish on FFS. Did not see much catching. Talked to a boat fishing crawdads that ended up with 3 for the day.
This was todays clone size...

Hate when I get an early topwater fish, and then proceed to force feed them for the next hour not realizing it was a fluke, and not a pattern.
At least you managed an almost limit!

Not to worry, topwater season is approaching in earnest soon. I feel it in my old bones lol
