Cold affecting bite in bays

Post by Phxangler »

Hello, I was wondering if the cold in the next week or so will really slow the bite in the bays? I know in fresh water it can have an impact. Not sure about the salt. I have a week off, believe it or not, I have an elk tag here in AZ, but I would almost rather just come and hit the bays a little bit instead. Thanks for any insight, you guys have given me some good tips in the past, it has helped me at least get on the board.

Winter time is the best time of the year for spotted bay bass, go to South San Diego Bay.

Had 33 last Friday Morning off Bayside Park in the float tube. Work soft plastics on a jig head close to and on the bottom, get there at 1st light. Curly tail grub, paddle tail swim bait, Ned rig: they all work. You don't say how you plan to fish though: boat, kayak, tube, shore, paddle board.....

Thanks, glad to hear that the winter time doesn’t shut them down too much. That is a really cool fishery that you guys have over there.

I’ve noticed the bass have started to be more aggressive towards reaction type baits as everything cools down which sounds backwards. Spinner baits and crank baits are getting a lot of attention. Last week I caught more on a spinner bait than the ghost shrimp I brought!
