Pacific Beach 8/13/24

Post by PBChris »

Fished the surf south of Crystal pier 7:30-8:30 this morning. Bite was hot first 30 minutes while the marine layer was there, then turned off when the sun came out, maybe coincidence. Caught 1 small corbina and 5 BSP. Grass and kelp were heavy up near shore but manageable with a short cast out. Saw some huge corbina coming into ankle deep water over crab beds, but grass was too heavy near shore to try to target them. Water is still very clear but maybe losing some clarity. The fish were hungry. No peck, peck, peck. Even the couple palm sized BSP hit hard and set the hook themselves.

Had the same experience last week with bite shutting off when sun hit the water. Fishing bud got a 21" bean this morning on a blood worm at Mission. He always does that when I'm not around !! LMAO
