Packed the float tube and my new ghost shrimp pump and headed to Carlsbad lagoon for the first time.
Forgot to glue the handle on the pump, so there goes that plan.
Launched the tube at 6:30, it was very slow until sunset, then it was wide open until 8:30.A small ned rig Zman trd tossed in the eel grass resulted in a spotty almost instantly. Mostly small ones but still a great time. Must have caught 20 in 45 minutes.
Left at 9:00, was a bit spooky being in a tube after dark

Those spotties fight well for their size, and you getting the quantity all the better....

Re: Carlsbad Lagoon Sunset Spotty Extravaganza
great fishing!
Good on ya for sticking out there, even for just a bit.
I don't fish much after dark on the tube. I throw too many backlashes when I can't track the lure in the air.....and unhooking fish is tougher.
way back when, the handled came off my shrimp pump. I cut a strap off a backpack that I had in the truck...scavenged a hose clamp from under the hood...and made a loop to replace the missing handle.
