New to bass fishing

Post by Sutliff619 »

What’s up everyone, I’m very new to bass fishing and I’m just looking for some pointers I might be missing on or doing something wrong. Spent about 3 hours this morning at Otay and didn’t get a single bite. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!!

My intel is telling me the bass are eating lots of shad so my suggestion is you throw some topwater baits or jerk baits or any other type of reaction baits. When bass are going through a frenzy eating shad that would be your best bet.

Are you on the shore or in a kayak/boat? IMO what’ll catch fish at any lake in the county, dropshot with a 6” straight tail worm, or a 5” Senko on either an EWG hook (Texas style) or wacky rigged. Get a pack or two of each in some kind of green pumpkin color and you can go to any lake in SD and catch fish. Cast as close to the tules or the trees as you can and work it slow.

Yeah I’m definitely not working it slow at all and I think that’s where I’m going wrong

Just practice pulling a backlash out every cast and you’ll get bit.
