El Capitan shut down for all of august due to excessive heat?

Post by daner229 »

So I briefly caught this on the news today, googled it and here’s what I got-

El Capitan Preserve in Lakeside, Hellhole Canyon Preserve in Valley Center and Mt. Gower County Preserve in Ramona will be closed Aug. 1 through 31. In addition, Agua Caliente and Vallecito County Parks near Anza Borrego are closed all summer; they reopen Labor Day weekend.

I’m assuming the reservoir will be closed as well- but it doesn’t specifically say that. It goes on about trail restoration etc.

The preserve is an entirely different thing! Talking about hiking trails!

If someone wants to recreate to the point they die because of the heat? I say let Darwin cook.

What I am noticing a trend of, is 'closures' of public spaces on the guise of 'protecting the public.'

This happened during Covid where all these public restrooms were shut down. 3 years later, I see a lot still permanently closed. "No public Restrooms."

It's easier to close something down so your staff doesn't have to maintain it, and say it's for the public good.

Yea, but we tax payers have to pay for the resources to help/retrieve them because of their stupidity.
