Fished the incoming tide at Mission Beach from 6am-8am, up until things got a little choppy. Heavy fog, somewhat strong currents, but a nice reprieve from the hotter temperatures inland!
Decent day from a quantity standpoint, 8 perch in total. Mussels were working well in the complete absence of sand crabs, and a few were caught on dried lugworms. If there’s a silver lining to Dinkfest 2026, it’s that some of the perch were noticeably large than they’ve been over the past couple months. Not winter size perch but enough mass to keep things a little interesting.
Clean-ish water, some clumps of seaweed here and there but nothing that impacted fishing. As noted above, no crabs whatsoever and I’m guessing we won’t see them until next summer.

Re: Mission Beach 8/23
The sand crabs should come back, there was quite a major dip in the water temps the last few weeks which may have impacted the sc spawn but the temps are rebounding quick
