Parker Lake (June Lake Area) 7/1

Parker Lake is a short hike out of the June Lake area,holds browns and brookies for the most part. I did see a few rainbows. It's not stocked regularly so not sure how they are there.

Short? Yeah, but the elevation coming out of the trailhead reminds you if you're not in great shape. Did that two summers, and a cardiac stent ago...Terrific view of Mono Basin looking back down the trail...

Got this pic in case they found my corpse later on...just to show I made it to 37.85237951494949, -119.13612790149107 I think that's it...

Your brown was a beast, compared to the fish I got from the creek. Got a handful of tiny brookies, browns and rainbows...stubbornly sticking to my homemade spinners.

Suspect that at some point, the lake was stocked by air.

The view was breathtaking. Made a couple casts in the lake and had to head back down...

Got to play a fun game of "is that gas station still open, or what" on the way back down toward my camp, which was near Tom's Place. Was running on fumes when I found gas...all the way back in Mammoth. There's a lesson there somewhere...like maybe START your day with a full tank of gas, then do the "short day-hikes" at the farthest one, then work your way back to camp.

This was all the way in the back of the lake at the inlet where the water comes down from the water falls above. The trail back there isn’t maintained so it’s a bit of a bushwhack.

As far as difficulty goes, it’s one of the easier hikes in the June area due to it not having as much elevation gain compared to others. Getting up to Agnew and Gem lake is different story. Those switchbacks never seem to let up.

Yeah...most maps show the "Fisherman's Trail" going around the lake. Ain't no trail.

I like Parker..a pretty little lake! I've done alot worse hikes! It's just far enough to keep crowds down.
