Opening Day Dink Fest
Hello everyone!
I was able to make it out opening day last Wednesday and what a fun day it was! On the water by 5, and the dink fest was underway. I caught 95% of my fish on senkos and Ikas. One or two on a square billed crank, and one on a DS. My biggest fish was just under 4 pds, and another at 3.77. Only 2 fish all day that weighed more than a pound. Very odd for the opener. Usually a mix of bigger units with a smattering of dinks. Anyhow, from what I've read so far, it seems to be the norm. Anyone else catch any bigguns? Let me know. I pasted a link to the video I posted on my YouTube channel in here. Not sure how to attach it in the body of the post yet. Check out my new channel and subscribe to support my 5th grade level edition and videography!

Yessir! Born n raised in New Orleans. Learned how to fish there! Been here longer than I lived there, but my roots are still there. Thanks for watching and checking out the video! I have a video on my YouTube channel that shows my son and I slaying Red fish and speckled trout last year!

Thought so! I was the first in my family not born in New Orleans (Houston) but we headed back several times a year for holidays and summer vacations. I can spot you natives after only a syllable or two lol. My grandfather from Metarie got me hooked on fishing and crabbing on those trips and our Nana always took our catch and cooked up her masterpieces. Great meeting you here and look forward to your posts!Johnnylh wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 8:38 am Yessir! Born n raised in New Orleans. Learned how to fish there! Next trip out, take photos of the tags and numbers and submit them to F&G.

I wondered about that. They don't want the weight and length and all that as well? I'll try to remember.
