First cast at 2nd spot I tried, about 10 minutes into session. Fooled with a 2.5-inch Rapala, which I was retrieving at a slow crawl. There is hardly any action to the lure at that speed! Good fight, took me on a zigzag tour of the reeds. Fished a few more spots around the lake, had one other fish chase but not commit. Bass were chasing baitfish at surface in a couple of spots. Only fish in 3 hours.

I remember going there years ago, before the shoreline was overgrown with reeds. You could see hundreds of beds in a little area past the cement crossing. I thought the big rains a few years ago washed everything out and I haven't bothered trying to fish it again. I still camp there for quick weekend getaways, glad to see there's some finned life in it!

The floating bridge crossing looks fishy too, though I didn't get any takers there.

Salad and branches are abundant at all the spots I hit. I was bouncing the jerkbait off sizeable submerged branches when my fish struck.
