4/23-Thanks Dad

Post by VinnyBass »

Today would have been my father's birthday so I kept to a tradition to go fishing today in his honor. I was so fortunate as a kid growing up as my father took me fishing almost every weekend. I always remember being so excited that I would wake up an hour or two early and could not go back to sleep just thinking about our fishing trip. I exclusively started fishing for bass only and everything was old school back then... like using a split shot up the line when fishing with a plastic worm. Creme worms were the best back in those days and then of course the Delong "Otay Specials." I remember my father telling me don't let mom find out that you are using one of her pans to boil those "Otay worms." Back then you would take it out and stretch it and put in under cold running water and the worm would now be between 7 to 9 inches and much better action.
Of course I could go on and on but anyway I caught a handful of bass this morning at Murray... but was mostly reflected on so many great memories of fishing with my father.
Thank Dad! :-)

Many have told me that I give away too much secrets and to keep things more to myself, but I try to be helpful as much as I can.
Besides I do not fish tournaments........and can see why those tournament guys do not want to let out what is working best for them.
It would be funny if I did fish tournaments and @Mcfish asked me what am I using to catch bass.
This would be a good starting point in answering him......ha ha

I have few old lures that a client of mine gave me similar to a couple of yours, I really like the chartreuse one, are those dads lure's?
I think I’m getting to figure out when you’re joking, but probably not.
Thanks for the post either way.c

No, just things I got searching online, but I do have a bunch of vintage lures that my father got from his uncle and ones he
had and there are some pretty amazing looking lures that were created many, many decades ago. I should probably gather
some of them and put them in a display case to hang on the wall. Oh course I thought of doing that decades ago and it
still has not been done...ha ha
