Canyon 4/18
I don’t know why I keep coming back to Canyon Lake. I have fished it for 50 years. Maybe it’s just fun Float Tubing with your Buddy, enjoying some easy time on the water. The Fishing has been tough, down to 1 or 2 fish a trip. Then Saturday, I had a Bass Fest in the Ski Lagoon. While I have been jaded by 30+ Bass a trip for years, it got so bad I just didn’t expect the Lake to turn on for me. I landed 10 Bass and a Bruiser Catfish, all on Topwater. That’s a good session on any Lake. More importantly was my first two were Bonus size, and that damn Catfish slammed my Topwater like a Bass and even came up to the surface a couple times but no jump. I thought I had the Queen Bass for a few minutes before it became a dog fight down deep. Sure enough, Whisker Bass. Insult to injury, it bit my thumb and cut a slice of skin that has since become infected, requiring Band Aids and Neosporin. The nerve! I’m happy to get on some fish there after a few months of Golden Algae infused crud water, messing up my success. Thank You Fish Gods! Can’t wait to get back on the water…

Very nice. I remember many years ago going to that area on a "covert night mission" with a fishing buddy. We had a float tube and a raft to get the job done, and the results were quite satisfying.
