PB 11-7
Got out about 645
Heavy surf heavy salad
Incoming tide
Couple light taps early, waves were reaching the built up sand piles by 730. Due to load out I had to call it there. Moved over to the bay. Lots of literal garbage in the water.
Still enjoyed not touching a spreadsheet but 7'6" is definitely too high

Re: PB 11-7
High tides + high waves = messy. Wave heights were around 2' earlier in the week, so while the tide was certainly in, the water was relatively calm. Looks like they were measuring closer to 6' today which I have learned is basically unfishable regardless of tides, just far too much movement in the water.Jteo wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 12:07 pm Got out about 645

Yet as you said, still beats staring at spreadsheets!
FYI (and for the information of any others lurking or who need the refresher), the sites I use to track tides and waves:
Tide - https://www.usharbors.com/harbor/califo ... -ca/tides/
Waves - https://cdip.ucsd.edu/m/products/buoy_w ... set=public
Thanks to those who've shared those links before me. Better conditions ahead, for sure!

WOW!!! That is WAY in!! That's crazy!!Jteo wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 2:41 pm Yeah I don't really get to pick my days but I do check conditions. Was a nightmare for sure but hey it was cool to see
I am with you, though, in that I fish when I can fish. If the conditions are perfect, great. If they're less than perfect, then I can either deal with them or skip it altogether... and I have a hard time staying away from the beach.
I was wondering why they 'built' those sand walls, it hadn't occurred to me that it was for the king tides. I recall a few years ago the water/tides doing quite a bit of damage to Mission Beach.

I was fishing South Mission Beach. About 50 yards north of the life guard tower. More shoreline there.. But after 8:00 am it was getting rough. That is when I stopped fishing.Jteo wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 12:07 pm Got out about 645

What do you fish with bay side? Wasn't really prepared well but everywhere that seemed fishy was very weedy even on a weedless drop shotNelson 1 wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 3:25 pmI was fishing South Mission Beach. Re: PB 11-7
Butch it would have been better if I had known how to pack. My main issue was not wanting to leave my heavy backpack and quite expensive sandals so far away and so close to the boardwalk. They would have been easy picking. If I had packed lighter I probably would have fished through it. But yeah, learning, the beach, a cool phenomenon. Good day

That's exactly why I wear a vest, and clip my cheap flip-flops to the vest.... Nothing to set down... Just stroll the beach... My fishing buddy lost a pair of sandals... Leaving them under a life guard tower...

I wear a backpack to hold my water bottle and extra gear. I have a small fanny pack too hold my bait. I also have a small rod holder, so if I have to put my pole down it's not in the sand. It hooks to my pack. I just wear my sandals in the water.Midnightpass wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:26 am That's exactly why I wear a vest, and clip my cheap flip-flops to the vest....
