8/13 Tube
In line at 3:30 Dave and Chuck loaded and gone at Pigs. I take a while to pack the tube. Did my usual to get the skunk off before I set out, used my same texas rig from El Cap except no barb.. Lite wind already, headed across the lake. Topwater I had blow ups no solid hook ups, throwing the TR after miss caught them. Things were way slower then my past trips, I decided to head to Becky's, on the way the wind came up. I stopped at becky's island to stretch my legs and fish from shore picked a few on DS. Wind went major, so I decided I wanted to head back. Saw Chuck, he was heading in he passed me, then the wind got even stronger that I was not making any progress. I would park at shore fish a little and then try it again. It took me over 2 hours to get where I wanted to get (need a bigger trolling motor). The wind blew like crazy until around 3, then settled down a bit. As slow as fishing was I kept plugging away and I did hit over the Barrett goal, biggest just under 4. TR, DS, Split shot rig and some Ika's. At one stop in 10' of water I noticed fish cruising under me. I dropped the DS down and hook up, landed 14 pretty quick. I fished on the water until around 5:30 and fished shore until 6:30. Talked to TommyP at pigs, good talk. Tried to take a pic of Dave and Chuck, was 2 dark.

Re: 8/13 Tube
Nice report Dave.
Our decision to go back of Hauser was a good idea, we found them on top water. I was able to get them with the frog, a 4 and couple of 3s, popper , plopper also produced but some of the bass was paper thin!
That was the worst wind I’ve seen there, especially at 10am! Usually it’s around noon but that really came out of nowhere even with a motor it took forever to cross the main lake and I was drenched!

Re: 8/13 Tube
Top water would of been nice. I thought I could travel with out concern. I know better now, looking at options for a bigger TM. Tommy said he talked to you and Dave.
In the picture of you two, I could hear you guys talking, you should be fishing when Dave talks it's fish on.

Re: 8/13 Tube
Nice report Dave,
Like Chuck said our decision worked out yesterday. We stopped along the way at a couple spots and got lucky on the topwater. I always like to catch fish in the dark, it's more of surprise. The ones in rear Hauser were a bit skinny. This fish was 4 pounds 4 ounces with a 6 pound head. She was fun on the BFS popper though. A lot of skinnier fish are lethargic when you catch them, I think.

Re: 8/13 Tube
Thanks for the report David. Not sure what thrust trolling motor you have, but I upgraded my battery to a lithium and it seems to be a lot more punchy.
I haven’t been fishing in three friggin weeks… can’t wait to get back out there on Saturday!

It's only a 30lb thrust and I do use a 100ah lithium. I will get something bigger at some point.Shawnster wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2025 12:34 pm Thanks for the report David. Not sure what thrust trolling motor you have, but I upgraded my battery to a lithium and it seems to be a lot more punchy.

Re: 8/13 Tube
Shawn, I'll be there bright and early and lurking in Hauser. I have a new kayak, so don't look for the blue one, it will be there, but have Jeremy ( Corso Enthusiast ) on it. I'm on the same type of kayak, but sand color now. It has an ebike motor, so I can cover even more water. Hope to see you.

Re: 8/13 Tube
Really cool running into some of the "Junkies" yesterday. We all spoke of what a special place that is and what a privilege to access it. The overall size of the fish have been getting smaller and smaller for me the last two outings....not to dink stage yet. I guess I have to fish deeper and slower. Tried cranking the wall back to Hauser.....nothing...a first for me. Yes there was a little wind....up and down but what a Stunning Day. Can't wait to get back there next Wednesday.....this time I will have my VHF radio to listen in to some of the secrets.
TommyP
Ps as you can tell from the poll it seems so far the the majority want to see monthly pre sell of the tickets.
