Victory at Sea...but fish liked it!

Post by Mcfish »

So much for weather forecasts! Winds of 10-12 mph predicted..wrong! It started out calm and beautiful, fishing was a little slower than last week, partly because 4 guys were sitting on my not so secret spot! By 9:00, a slight breeze out of the east started up, and living in Ramona, I know that can get ugly pretty quick! The winds continued to pick up and the fishing started turning on! Not ideal conditions in a float tube, but you've got to do what you've got to do! I ran into Fisheromen around noon as the winds started getting nasty with white caps and full on Santa Ana's blowing! The fish thought the conditions were ideal. We found a spot where the rocks run into the underwater trees...and it was on! Fisheromen hooked into fish on 4 or 5 consecutive casts working plastics in 12'-20' of water. I hooked up on 3 straight casts, broke one off, one came unbuttoned, and landed the 3rd. We both managed to lose a big fish, but we did hook up with 10 to 12 fish on the spot! Eventually, the wind won out and we called it a day around 1:30. I ended up with 22 for the day and I think Fisheromen was close to that! The day was proof that wind can be your friend if you want to deal with it..the fish love it!

Just so you know, Mcfish actually talks more than I do when I’m fishing up there near him. I’d be willing to take a polygraph test to prove it….ha ha
Yeah, we have a lot of fun!

Wind was a challenge, reminded me of fishing Lake Crowley in the Sierras in the fall! I got spun around quite a few times! When the fish turned on like that though, it's hard to leave em biting!

I only speak when spoken to...Vinny only speaks every minute he's awake! They now sell ear plugs at the Murray concession stand.............I'm just sayin.! I actually go through withdrawals when Vinny's not up at D.K.

😀, I must admit that I'm guilty of picking a fish off your spot early but that wind was brutal, good for showing determination 👍. That police blotter by Vinny is hilarious 😂

They don't call it "community point" for nothing! Only the fish know the real secret spots!

OK since I caught bass off your spot yesterday, I guess it was my fault. :-)
