8/22-Back to Murray for more
I actually did not plan to fish today and got on the water with my kayak close to 7am. Had the pleasure to meet and chat with 1FishDude, who had a very cool pontoon set-up. It was a tough start as I was only able to land 2 bass until around 10.
Then things got a little better as I mixed it up with a variety of reaction baits and started pulling in some bass. The unfortunate thing was I missed a number of bass. I had 5 bass shake off a spoon all on jumps right near my kayak(can't remember ever losing that many in one outing). Then I missed 2 bass on flukes, 2 more on a Hover bait rig and another one bass came unbuttoned on a spoon on the way back to the boat dock. To lose 10 bass is not good by any means, but on the positive side I ended up landing 14 bass. Nothing big, mostly all clones, but it was very fun!
What was crazy was bass were jumping here and there well past the morning no doubt gobbling up lots of shad.
Then in typical Murray fashion.... a day later or two, every changes like it is a totally different lake. That is why I throw so many different baits. I think one time at Sutherland, McFish said he needed a calculator on how many times I changed baits...ha ha
A few pics.....nothing big...mostly clones
Caught 6 on flukes Caught 6 on spoons 2 flipped off my spoon right before him, so I
gave this mini bass a kiss 1 on a Hover bait rig ..and 1 on a blade

Awesome Vinny, once again you're my hero. I found it tough out there today.

Re: 8/22-Back to Murray for more
It started slow, but I was persistent as heck because I only had a couple bass by 10a.m. I was lucky as I just drifted downDannicus wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 5:12 pm Awesome Vinny, once again you're my hero. I found it tough out there today.
into an area where there seemed to be lots of bass eating shad. Of course bass were eating shad everywhere and hitting
the surface, but the area I was in they were a little more cooperative. Sadly, I did not pick up one bass on a hard topwater
bait and my hats off to you for being able to get them to strike your secret topwater bait. I tried, but 3 straight trips
and no love for my topwater baits. Always nice seeing you out there in your bixpy powered tube.
Anyway I made lots and lots and lots of casts(did I say lots?) and I am pretty burned out. No fishing tomorrow....but
many visit the Tackle Warehouse site. Heck.....I am retired and need to keep busy.
Tight lines always buddy.

Impressive! You guys both did very well.
Lower bass population lake (Larry Bottroff, would say Murray averaged around 4,500 catchable bass) and the heat we have been having lately can't help either.

I guess I won't use a huge treble hook, or I might snag too many bass by accident.... I am no ML.Mcfish wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:18 amThat's a NO...I'm thinkin you need at least this size to actually land those fish...try, try again!VinnyBass wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:03 pmHey @Mcfish ...I sharpened and upsized my hook. Re: 8/22-Back to Murray for more
Geez…hopefully I will remember how to fish the points and edges of the tulles because I’ve been fishing out in the middle of the lake so many trips in a roll and haven’t tossed any plastic worms etc.

Nice fish, as usual.
Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.
