The heat and the full moon..
Haven’t been to my “home lake” in awhile cause the evening shore bite has been really slow lately. Decided to venture out Monday since it was the full moon to see if maybe they were chewing.
It was a balmy 99 when I got to the lake at 4pm. Wind helped it a bit but the sun was just brutal.
As for the fish, I did see some random individual busters out in open water but they were too far from the shore to reach.
fishing plastics lookong for brush and rockpiles, from 515-6pm almost every cast was a bite and most of those fish ate it either on the fall or while it was soaking immediately after hitting the bottom. I figured out where there seemed to be a bunch of them, juat kept casting to the spot and kept getting bit. After 6pm, not a tap except from the tiny fish up super shallow.
size wise, most in the 2-3lb range, solid but not big. only one fish under two.

Sometimes the busters are nice, but better things are sometimes down deeper. Bet you were stoked when you found that
nice afternoon bite on plastics. I could visualize the big smiles you had below all the facial sun gear. Great job out there
and thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Always enjoy your posts and pics! Tight lines always.

Re: The heat and the full moon..
That lake more than any other seems to really stick to the bite windows. And they were full chew all the way up to 6pm, didn’t even taper off, just stopped dead. Only bites I got after that, there was a small rockpile pretty close to shore and every time I drug across it I’d get the unmistakable rapid taps in succession and would watch my line swim off and I’d pull up to nothing. Those fish weren’t even big enough to eat a 7” robo

I know a lot of people that think the full moon negatively affects the fishing the following day, but I've fished the last 2 full moons and did average to above average! I can't really remember having a bad full moon day throughout the years!

Re: The heat and the full moon..
The window from 3 days pre full moon to 3 days post full moon for me is almost always good for me. I make sure to fish as often as I can during that window honestly. My big catch last year… 3 days after the full moon.Mcfish wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:25 am I know a lot of people that think the full moon negatively affects the fishing the following day, but I've fished the last 2 full moons and did average to above average! The videos are out there for sure! I went to Montana and made 2 videos from there (in the Trout Fishing section) and then this one dropped Tuesday, but I just haven't posted it yet here. I guess I did right now! Not trying to highjack the thread...
Cheers!
