I don't typically start surf fishing until the school year is over, but my dad has been doing pretty well the past few weeks on the halibut and he convinced me to join him on Sunday morning. We were on the sand right as the negative low bottomed out, and found a couple of good looking troughs that had a mix of rock and sand. Pops hooked up with 2 flatties right away, but it took me awhile to figure it out. It was the first time I had ever fished with an LC, and eventually I connected.
A few minutes later, I got another one.
Finished the morning with a chunky sand bass.
It was a great morning on the sand, as it always is when I get to fish with my dad.

Nice going. I've heard of a hot halibut bite going on (40 inchers caught in OC/LA). Was this at your usual beach? I'll see you out on the sand this summer!
