Line Size/Water Clarity?

Post by Baja Belk »

Fishing from the yak Saturday. Was going to bring a bay rod that's already spooled up with fresh 15# fluoro (straight). Is that too heavy for Barrett? I think I typically throw 10 there. Don't really want to re-spool but also don't want to miss bites due to finicky fish.

I use nothing but 17 pound Flourocarbon leader tied to 30 Braid at most of the Lakes I fish, Barrett included. I find it works really well pulling big Bass out of heavy cover in the morning and Deep Bass off the rocks in the afternoon all Spring. I’m definitely not hurting in the numbers game. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against 6 pound and 1/16oz. Lure mid Summer, mainly pulling Bass off the outside of live trees and deep rocks.
