Deja Vu to 2023
Hit the minus low this am at SMB & found a huge hole/trough. Alternated tossing an LC and a Daiwa SP for about 30-40 minutes but no takers. Conditions were good, low surf, no salad but no Sc's. No red tide that I could see. Some perch nibblers around but then a seal entered the picture and blew up whatever might have been hanging around. Made a move up the beach & by now crabs were showing. A strong current was otherwise compromising the good conditions. Only solid hit was a small ray. Earlier, birds were working inshore a spot by the next LG tower down the beach. Likely grunion staging for tonight but I couldn't get my sorry butt down there quick enough. Did take a stroll down & perch bite was solid but decided to pack it in after one more cast. Bingo, a drag burning hit with a bean or croaker on. Get it almost in & unbuttons right in front of me, a good 20 inch or so bean. This was identical to the way I started last year . . . the deja vu !
