Re: Pismo-Morro Bay Fishing

Check out Hook2Cook on Youtube. He's a central coast angler with a lot of good videos. I grew up in Santa Ynez and lived in the SLO/Pismo area for a number of years, I just wish I was more into fishing instead of partying back then, otherwise I'd have more advice for you!

Re: Lucky Craft, wind knots.

12lb mono works great throwing lucky crafts. I throw them on conventional bass rod. No problem with distance on any jerk bait style with weight transfer system.

12-pound pulls in a legal halibut in surf pretty well?

From experience I can say that a quality 12 lb mono is pretty tough ...

Re: Pacific Beach 6/24

Just a quick thought. I don’t know what the conditions were. Generally a lot of weeds come with swell. If it was after the swell and relatively calm, you can throw a Sand Crab under a Bobber. Now before you start laughing, the Bobber floats with the weeds and you give it the best drift you can. We ...

Re: North County trips.

Krocodile is one of my favorites . You can use the single Siwash as supplied . I use a dressed treble that I tie that is almost the same length of the spoon . Just make sure the treble as it came from the factory has the single hook portion pointing to the concave of the spoon . Less snags . 5/8 oz ...

Re: Nucanoe unlimited motor recommend...

Yes, I'd recommend adding a skeg to it for tracking. Here's a guy on reddit who did it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/kayakfishing/comments/ugg6er/one_man_bass_boat_nucanoe_unlimited_wxi3/?rdt=51585

I run the Xi3 w/GPS on my Hobie PA14 and always run with the skeg and rudder down. If you can swing it ...

Re: Looking for a big boy tube

I’m in! Let’s go Haha. That other lake in Tecate, carrizo…I always wanted to make it there. There’s been stories of fishing it with no issues and others saying members only…it’s like Barrett. Never heard of that lake but it looks awesome.

I used to drop everything and everyone in the bushes ...

Re: Rule or reg to wear red/orange on tube?

The Lake Miramar website mentions float tubers must have a horn or whistle. That rule is most likely never enforced either.

Re: Drain Plug replacement

I like the first camo bass thread on how to fix the issue...that being said I have an old bassboat ranger and I have the same issue with the drain plug.
My "fix" was to buy a new drain plug ( the screw rubber/brass type ) that you push in then screw the brass fitting to tighten it. I first shaved ...

As they say, scars are usually good stories! I might only replace the carpet but might make sense to file an insurance claim and get it all done right.

Re: Clips or No Clips

No clips for me. I don't find them to be appreciably quicker than tieing a new knot. And adds extra hardware. And action seems to be different from stock. Angles of a clip vs stock split ring aren't the same, alters action. I prefer to tie new knots and trust that the stock ring was engineered for a ...

No clips for the win this morning at Harbor Island. 3 Barracuda and 1 Mackerel within an hour. It pays off to be patient.

Re: Fluorocarbon Leader

I doubt you would see other benefits (ie invisible less stretch) of FC compare to Copolymer in 4-5 feet beside abrasion resistance. Do you plan to get leader material or just any line out of filler spool? If I can, I would go without leader to avoid weakness of connection knot. If I fish a lot of ...

Re: Night Time Lures

Day or night, I will use a fish trap with a 1/2oz or 3/4 oz jig head. Now you can also use the jig heads with the underspin on them with a green/glow in the dark fish trap that tends to work pretty good. Even running a crankbait works too as long as you don't bury it in the eel grass

Re: Curado 200E7 frame
